Hi, The Pond name rings no bells. The Clark name does- there were more Clarks in U.S. history than Carter has oats or liver pills. I am descended from Sarah Hawkins Clark who was Col. and Gov. John Sevier, granddaughter. She told her grandkids who died in Erath County that she was married in her grandad's home whene she lived after her mom Elizabeth Sevier Clark died when Sarah was 7. Several of these Clarks settled near Crockett, Texas and one married one of Great Grandad's half Brothers in Erath County, Texas. His mother was Martha Catherine Mitchell, descended from German and/or Scottish . She wasthe 3rd wife of Oliver Cromwell Wyly of Habersham County, Ga. who had 23 kids. She was also a descendant of Col. Von Moller or Moulder , German, and Capt. John Stuart of Rev. War.and of Col. Ben Cleveland, who was at the Rev. War Battle of King's Mountain with Col. Sevier, Col. Shelby, and Col. Campbell- all State Militia, not George Washington's army. This was the first major win of Rev. War for the Rebels. Major Patrick Ferguson waskilled and some of Col. Cleveland's "Roundheads" or "Bulldogs" tried, whipped, rearranged and marked ears, and otherwise mutioated colonial Tories under Ferguson. Cols. Sevier and Shelby drew swords and stopped the mutioation and suggested they be allowed to live and report to Cornwalis. Shortly after they found him he surrenderred. He was scared to death of these wild Overmountain men with their personal rifles which shot 100 + yards. British Muskets and some of George Washington's would only shoot 45 yards,& so some British dealer sold them to some Mexican named Santa Anna to kill Texans with. Martha Mitchell Wyly is buried off the Pasadena Freeway near Alvin , Texas. Henry Clark was mayor of Stephenville and wore a George Washington haircut. He ran the 6+6 feed store and mill on the back side of the block joining the square on the north and sold it to Marshall Kay, a grandson of Oliver Cromwell Wyly & a Clark descendant. The first name you give is not in Sevier Family History. The Clark connection might be a key to something, Hope so. Take care Charles Wyly ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
