Hi, Has anyone examined his headstone for symbols? Also check the State Secretary of Masons. A local lodge should help you. If not, check the Lee Lockwood Masonic library and museum on West Waco Drive in Waco. I might find another source if this fails. I found a headstone in Indian Creek- an inverted triangle with skull and Crossbones and KCS- one letter in each corner. The stone has apparently been replaced now. I was told by a secretary on the phone at the Lockwood library to check with the Knights of Pythias. Sure enough, the KCS was an old Knights of Christian Service used by European Crusaders who tried to regain control of Jerusaleum from the Moslem Powere. This symbol was used by some Knights of Pythias members in the early 1800's That was the only time I have ever seen it on a headstone. When I taught Industrial Cooperative Training, one of our texts for stonecutters and engravers of headstones had all sorts of exact meanings of roses and markings we today just consider personal taste in art, but in history each decoration had an exact meaning, just as the Texas Czech traditional ethnic dress of the ladies or vest of the man.tells one the family history , occupations, and marriage status by the decorations and symbols. Take care, Charles A. Wyly
