Mike Edwards, b. 1881 was a first cousin to the Joseph Edwards (1854-1873) who was hung and was the first cousin once removed to Joseph Ed Dowdy. Additionally, the spouse of Joseph Edwards was Barbara Susan Dowdy, the paternal aunt of Ed Dowdy. The Edwards-Salmon-Dowdy families were connected several different ways. All lived in and around the Clairette community. Mike Edwards parents were Micajah Richard Edwards and Martha Salmon--- Joseph Edwards parents were Samuel Edwards and Elizabeth Salmon. Thus Mike and Joseph were double-first cousins. The Clairette cemetery had its beginnings in the 1850s as the Salmon family cemetery in a similar manner that the Duffau cemetery began as the McCarty family cemetery at about the same time.
