    3. Hi, guess you knew that Sam Houston was soberred up by his Tennessee childhood froend John Jolly in Arkansas and his friends. John Jolly and the Copelands, Careys, Stones, and German Hipp families from South Carolina and Tennessee could all pass for Anglo, but some had Indian blood from 1800 and before in The Carolinas and Georgia and east Tennessee and North Georgia. This group sided with their blood kin against the British. Nancy Ward, for example, became the beloved Woman- leader of Woman's Council which trained the next chief at Chota or Old Echota. , the Blue Peace city of Refuge of 3000 who allowed polygamy and welcomed all refugees of all races and tribes. If you behaved, you became a blood brother. This group sent their kin and friends in North Georgia 300 dogs once to save them from starving during a drought. When she sent cows, her son in law Gen. Joseph Martin took them back. he was an ancestor of Mary Jane Buffington- he from Toccoa Ga. area- he sold the Traveller's Rest Inn to Gen. James Rutherford Wyly. His first wife was a Graves, who was sister to Col. Ben Cleveland og Ga. & King's Mountain. Wylys sold out to The Jarrett- Lucas families. It is now a Georgia State Park where Clemson and other college hold blacksmith demonstrations. The Blackburn Mill was built by Blackburns on War Eagle River south of Eureka Springs before the Trail of Tears ended and still runs. Those on the trail were shocked to find the Ozarks west of the Miss. settled by Anglo appearing peoplewith their names on the Gov. Indian rolls. A Dallas City library worker told us the Arkansas Indian Background before there was an Oklahoma border. He held a Geneaology workshop here in Bellmead recently. Andrew Jackson had 3 major reasons not ususlly in books, to force the final removal. 1. The Blue Peace cities of Refuge of Echota and Etowa, Tennessee. It was an escape from Anglo law. Jackson orderred Col. Sevier and his Gillespie- Jack- Mcallie-& others to burn Etowa and scatter the ashes. Their guide and interpreter James Carey may been part of Daniel Boones Longhunters, including Stones, . Can some Longhunter researcher contact me on this. My Careys and Stones were there and in Arkansas with the Batemans when it was questionable if they were in organized U.S. territory at times. Many were in the territory of the Louisiana Purchase north of Arkansas before the purchase was done. Our books usually called them Mountain men. The Trappers at Annual Rundeveaus (SP) were not all French. If Jackson's plan worked, why are there so many Red Headed freckled faced Cherokees on the Eastern reservationand their outdoor pageant between Gatlainburg and Hiawasse Ga. at Cherokee, N.C.?? The Buffingtons of Bruceville- Eddy McLennan County. had records of Cherokee and Anglo ancestors, including Mary Jane, when I substituted after retirement. Will send names from Buffingtons to Martins and Capt. John Stuart, 1700s.Linda Darnell, movie star, was part Cherokee from this line.
