Hi, I knew Tom Laney and family of Erath County, also Ben Laney & his family. Ben and Ruth were close friends of mom and dad in their older years. Tom was paralyzed for some reason and scooted around town on Saturday and trades days with a cup of pencils and razor blades, selling them from he sat on with one leg under him & pushed it with a walking cane. The Kiwanis gave him a gasoline 3 wheel scooter similar to our electric carts today. Some "Friends" offerred to take him home. They didn't they put him out on the Fort Worth Highway. He started home and a car hit him from behind. Tommy, his son was a hard working young man. He secured a position as a maintenance man at Tarleton State and pastored a Baptist church in Stephenville. I saw his sister last week visiting Mutt and Dorothy Suitt. Where are you? My great Great Great grandfather Rev. B.T.Stevens from Chipley (Pine Mountain) (Calloway Gardens Country) ,Georgia is buried at Selden (Hatchett) Cemetery on the Duffau Creek by two daughters who married Dr. & Rev. Hatchett. He ordained his son in law and or 2 of his brothers as Missionary Baptist ministers. The were Texas Ranger scouts for Taylor in the War with Mexico, 1845. Dr. Hatchett was a Doctor, minister, and pharmacist and land speculator.
