While we can't help out with the soundex, we want to annouce that we are beginning work on transcribing the 1880 census. We have a most thankful borrowed microfiche machine (which will work to read microfilm if we rig it) and borrowed film. This will be very slow going. We are awaiting the template and OK from the USGenWeb Census Coordinator for TX, and then we'll get started on it. The 1860 & 1870 census is already being worked on by somebody else. Anybody that has access to microfilms and readers, and has a laptop computer (or yours at home if you have the reader at home), can volunteer to help transcribe any of the U.S. Census'. This is a most worthwhile project! Anyone interested in it can go to this page: http://www.usgenweb.org/census/ Regards, Annette and Janice Erath Coordinators At 07:53 AM 2/5/99 EST, Arkivemom@aol.com wrote: >Does anyone out there have access to the 1880 soundex for TX?
