Hi, was checking my Sevier Family History and finall found a Major Martin and a Capt. James Elliott served in the Battle of Boyd's Creek campaign to remove hostile Indians from Tennessee. Col. John Sevier was comander acting on Gen. Andrew Jackson.s orders and Col. Arthur Campbell, a cousin of Col. William Campbell who was at King's Mountain with Col. Sevier and Col Ben Cleveland and Col. Shelby. This was reported to Governor Thomas Jefferson by letter. 1/14/1781. and Col. Arthur Campbell said Capt. James Elliott was a gallant young man and the only injury in the battle. Apparently on Dec. 28, 1780. They had visited Nancy Ward, beloved Woman of the Cherokee Blue Peace city of Refuge for all and they had burned old Etowa with a James Carey as scout/interpreter/recruiter of scouts. My mother was a Carey.. Ever an old person say Etewa? I have. This refers to the Glory days of old Etowa. Bet some who said it as a by word did't know what it meant. . P. 313 lists a Jo Ann Marie, Chandley , a Sevier descendant in Kansas City married Marshall Elliot & had 5 children. It lists 2 other Elliott women who married Sevier men- one in 1840.s and one in 1900's., both in Tennessee. Hope this helps- if I see any Erath County Elliotts will let you know Thanks Charles Wyly ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
