    3. Hi, I went to high school with Elaine Bishop of Chalk Mountain, 1944-46. She and Dixie Stasey and several more were on the bus when it got to my stop. In Stephenville, you want to check the public library AND thge Farleton State University library. The 10 year collection of historic calendars by Dan Young for Town and Country Bank had daily notations with source for each. Many newspapers have come and gone, and don't forget Hico mail routes cover a lot of southeast Erath County, but all of Hico City limits is in Hamilton County. Their Historic society is on the Internet. Iredell and Walnut Springs are in Bosque County. Will check, but I don't see Bishops listed in Marilyn Mill Ewers's Three Way School PTA history. For a few years records in Erath County were kept in Waco, possibly Milam County before that. These Waco records in the McLennan County Tax office are very brittle but are available to r4esearchers. Most of my research has been in Waco Public Library Geneaology section, some in Texas State Library in Austin (especially good for Spanish and Republic of Texas History), and working and visiting in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Tennessee (Sevier Reunion), Georgia, and South Carolina, The University of North Texas in Denton has an unusually large collection of history of Texas Germans in both German and English, Sons of Hermann Lodges might help direct you to Texas German history and the SPJST lodges in Dallas, Ennis, West, Cameron , and Houston & Fayette County & El Campo can do the same for the Czechoslovakin researchers, sometimes reported as German, depending on when Germany was ruling the Moravian Provinces. The best research for Civil War period concerning Texas is the Confederate Research Center at Hill College, Hillsboro, Texas, next to a 100 store outlet Mall. Hood's Texas Brogade gatherred nearby and went east to disaster. Happy hunting,, Charles Wyly On Sat, 07 Nov 1998 08:22:54 -0600 "Kisha M.
