    3. Joe L. Ward had an automotive parts wholesale warehouse in Waco for about 50 years. He also had an automotive machine shop indowntown Stephenville in 1940-50s and a Joe Ward Automotive parts house in Stephenville on the south loop is still open. Nancy Ward was a high school girl from Selden, in Stephenville school. She had long black hair and olive skin. I have often wonderred if she was a descendant of the Nancy Ward, "Beloved Woman" of the Cherokees and head of the Women's Council, 1700-1800's? Nancy of Echota was married to Hiram Ward and lived in South Tennessee and North Georgia in the area my family were in then. She learned animal and poultry raising (dairy cows) and taught it to her Cherokee kin. The DAR built her and first husband Mankiller a monument for her aid in the Rev. War. Now that flies in the face of most Yankee history books today who say ALL Indians sided with the British. Why would they take sides against In laws??? Take care, Charles Wyly
