Hi, George Wyly married Effie Carr in Erath County about 100 years ago. George was my grandad's brother. They settled near his brother Jim, or maybe Jim was there last, near Friona- Black elevator area. later they ran an apple orchard in the Pecos valley at Roswell, M.N. and retired in the Falls Church, Va, area. She had planned to come back to a reunion when past 90 but did not come. The Luther Carr family lived near the Webbs on the road from Johnsville to Selden by the Duffau bridge and steep hill. David Carey, my second cousin lives on and owns some of this Hatchett- Carr land now and is a carr descendant. C.E.Carr ran a service station on South Graham Street and a cafe on the Fort Worth Hiway in Stephenville, Texas Hubert Waugh also ran it at one time. They were childhood friends from Selden.. 1950's. My Uncle Emmet Carey, semi retired, ran a garage behind the station and I worked there part time and lived next door in a Garage apartment of Mr. Boggus. ALSO: former Attorney General of Texas Waggoner Carr is from Hillsboron, Hill county, Texas. At Abbott about 100 years ago a Carr ran a stage depot and rock quarry near the Hooker or Mart Cole cave near West, Texas where some think pioneer Phillip Nolan lived. Buildings in West, Bynum, Abbott, Hillsboro and possibly Waco came from this Quarry. 2 or more generations of this family ran the cotton gin in Abbott, Texas. This Carr had a brother who was an El Paso judge who backed Judge Roy Bean of Pecos financially and otherwise. Waggoner Carr has taken the position of defending the rights of the family of J. Frank Dalton aka Jesse James, of Grandbury who is buried there with Jesse James on the headstone put there by his kin. He also later lived near Grosebeck, Texas and near Houston and some in Galveston, but is buried in Grandbury. One of the James family settled in Hillsboro. Just background- see any connection.
