    3. Have enjoyed reading history of this county for quite some time, and a thank you to Charles Wyly for the willingness to share. I have a few ancestors from Erath Co. My mother was born to Charlie Willis Cooper and Rebecca Ann Sedberry, and Charlie was born in Erath Co, 01 Nov. 1905 to Andrew Jackson Cooper and Cora Lee Barnes. Andrew was a Dr., and had a practice in Abilene on Sycamore St. during WWI. Cora died in 1925, and Andrew remarried and moved to Midland, continuing to practice until his death on 24 Dec. 1947 at the age of 72. Charlie Willis' older sister, Mary Alice Cooper, was born at Hico on 16 Nov. 1904. She married Horace Holley in Abilene, and they moved to Midland, building many homes in the 40's and 50's. I'm not sure if the youngest sibling of Andrew and Cora, Robert J. Cooper, was born in Erath Co. Dr. A.J. Cooper was supposedly named after his father, but neither his gravestone nor his birth certificate list him as a Jr. Rebecca Sedberry, my grandmother, always referred to the elder Andrew as Major Cooper, alluding to his rank in the Civil War, but I have been unable to find the elder Andrew Jackson Cooper. Is anyone familiar with this family? My uncle, Charles Jackson Cooper, was on a ship that was kamikazed in WWII, lives down by Lake Livingston, is 72 now, and would love to find some roots on who he was named for. Thanks, John Dee Weldon jweldons@texasonline.net
