    3. Most Keiths were between Dublin, De Leon, and Proctor in good peanut and now dairy country. Most attended BMA Missionary Baptist Churches, nor Southern Bro. Ernest Ripetoe was raised near them at Pontotoc and other small churches. Howard Keith was a Grocery truck driver who was ordained by the Rev. Emil Becker, pastor of First Baptist in Stephenville when Bro. Keith was well past 40. He pastored at Pony Greek Baptist , across a brach from the Box Methodist church, school, and Lof=dge Hall, all now gone but for the Baptist and it is inactive. Bro. Keith was a strong doctorinal pastor with 1 hour or more sermons, but no one dozed- he was too interesting. His wife, on the front seat, was Methodist. Once he bought a retired minister from a rest home on Sunday and deliberately misread the scripture. The older man shouted NO! Bro Keith said- What's wrong- The old man told him to read it right or don't read it. Then Bro, Keith said "That's Right- some of the rest of you said nothing. A Communist could misread scripture and make you believe it. Don't believe anything a preacher says unless you study the scripture and decide you agree, but let it be your decision, not his. "We all laughed, and he said they had planned this lesson on the way from the Nursing home. In Scotland The Clan Keith was near the castle of Clan Gunn, which included Wylys. They were enemies at one time. A Gunn was planning her wedding and the Keiths raided and took her captive and locked her in a castle tower. She died jumping from a window rather marry a Keith. Some of the Stone kin in Stephenville were Gunns- mom-s distant Arkansas cousins in Stephenville. We all got along great in Erath County except when the Whites and Blacks got their rifles and barricated the Comanche Hwy and stopped a Comanche Lynch mob from burning Black homes in Dublin- The Dublin party sent the Vigilantes home . They had left both black farm hands and a white drifter or two for the murder of a farm wife. Murderrer was never proved- the black farm hand was in the field working when she was killed, some neighbors said, but the Central Texas Rangers under John R Baylor had learned how to stage raids and blame Caddo Indians to have an excuse to send them to Caddo Oklahoma via Fort Phantom Hill in Abilene.
