My great-great-grandmother was Martha Ann Mefford, b. 24 Dec. 1844, d. 13 May 1885, Erath Co., Tx, who married Joseph Salmon, Jr. (b. 20 Aug. 1837 Ark, d. 29 June 1910, Erath Co., TX). I have not yet traced her roots, but I imagine that she or her family came originally from Greenup Co., Ky, because (1) Joseph Salmon, Sr., came from Greenup Co., and (2) Many Meffords lived then along a creek a little west of Joseph Sr's area. They had seven children; I can provide descendant data if you want it. Joseph Salmon, Sr., was reputedly the fourth settler in Erath County, arriving (from Waco area) in 1854.
