I reported in November the sad state of the historic San Antonio Confederate Cemetery which can be seen at: http://www.tarleton.edu/~stovall/Photos/SACSA/SACCleangraves.htm I'm happy to report the San Antonio Alamo Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans is organizing a major clean up on March 18th of this year. Below are the details for those who would like to help with either labor or a donation. "The Alamo Camp #1325 cordially invites the Texas Lone Star Greys Camp, the COL John RIP Ford Camp and the Hood's Texas Brigade Camp to join us in cleaning the San Antonio Confederate Cemetery at 9AM on Saturday March 19. We expect volunteers from a number of organizations. Bring gasoline powered equipment and/or hand tools. We will have riding mowers and heavy-duty weed eaters available. Wear hats and bring water. This clean up will prepare the cemetery for the Confederate Decoration Day events scheduled for April 24. You are all invited to participate or attend that event as well. Details will be forthcoming. The cemetery is located at New Braunfels Avenue and Commerce Street (look for the First National flying high!) We are accepting donations to offset the cost of gasoline and other items from those who cannot participate in the cleanup. Checks may be sent to Alamo Camp #1325, 1423 N. San Jacinto Street, San Antonio, TX 78207 We look forward to seeing you there. Thanks for supporting our Confederate ancestors. Russ Lane Commander Alamo Camp #1325" Please feel free to forward this to other people and group who would be interested in helping with this effort. I thank you for your consideration of this matter. ************************************************************************* ******************************************** John A.
