    3. Hi, It is my understanding that old Records not still in Brown County or Erath County Archives are now in the Tarleton State College area - one of their libraries- either main Student library or Dick Smith Library. When I attended there Dick Smith was still living and teaching History. These records may be there, but not sure who, if anyone, has the time to do your lookups. Ask them. The Tarleton site on the Internet has been published a few times, or look through a Google window. Also, remember, some older Erath County tax records are in Meridian, Bosque County for time before Erath was organized. Many Wyly records are in Meridian. Before that , some of the earlier Records of Erath County are kept in the Tax and County Clerk archives in Waco, McLennan county. Before that, check out the Old Milam District of early Texas. Also, remember the tongue in cheek comments some Tarleton College Profs had, which could be easily misquoted. For instance, my wife and I met at Tarleton and were in one of Dr. Wagner's or Wagoner's Psychology classes. He told us, at the end of the semester, that this psychology book should help us work with students,if we were weak on horse sense, but if its teachings failed, try closing the cover and hit the child hard and low with the textbook.
