I went to the Williamson County Genealogical Society annual seminar in Round Rock Saturday, where �Books & Things� was one of the vendors. I bought a copy of �Central Texas History & Biographies of Bosque, Brown, Comanche, Erath,Hamilton, Hood, & Somerville [sic.] Counties�. This is a two-volume set published by The Lewis Publishing Company, Chicago, in 1896. This is one of many such books, sometimes called �mug books�, published in the late 1800s. The copy I bought was copied from the original and distributed by County Publications, P.O. Box 331573, Fort Worth, Texas 76163, with indexes copyrighted in 1983 by Weldon I. Hudson. County Publications is owned by the Books & Things dealer. The representative, Pat Gordon, told me that Mr. Hudson is no longer in business, and County Publications reprints all of Hudson�s publications for him. This includes the three-volume Cemetery Inscriptions of Erath County, Erath County Census Records (1860-1870), Marriage Records 1869-1891, and Marriage Records 1891-1900.
