Hello Charles Wylie, I wanted to ask you if you knew the Carter family in Erath Co., TX. My Aunt Berlin McKinney, married Oscar Wilde Carter, September 30, 1919, in Stephenville, TX. Uncle Oscar was born December 5, 1888, in Stephenville. Aunt Berlin was born in Palo Pinto Co., TX. A Carter researcher sent me information that the parents of Uncle Oscar were William A Carter and Lillie E White. That's all the information I have on his background. Two girls were born to Aunt Berlin and Uncle Oscar: Evelyn Florene, born July 7, 1920, in Mingus, TX; and Vivian, born May 10, 1923, also in Mingus. This week I received a copy of the 1920 census for the Carters in Erath Co., Part of Prec # 7. ( where was that located?) It shows Oscar as male, white, 30. Refused to give place of birth & Dad's place of birth, mother, born TN.; Also, Berlin, female, white, 17, born TX . Father born TN, and mother, born GA. I have in my family records that Aunt Berlin was born 1900, so she should be 18, census taken in Feb, 1920. It gave his occupation as stable hand for T P Cosa Co (sp?) I'm wondering if that could be T P Coal? I would appreciate hearing from you concerning this family. The only thing I remember hearing about Uncle Oscar as a young man, was he went to Washington state and also Oregon for a time before he married. I remember him telling me how pretty it was up there. Also, he and Aunt Berlin were very musical. She played the piano wonderfully well and he played the violin. They were so good to me and incouraged me with my piano playing and allowed me to play with them. That was a real treat. My family had mucicals at home and several would be playing. I tried to write you off the list and I no longer have your correct e-mail address. Will appreciate help with this family. Dortha McElroy Greenlee
