Hi, Note the Mattie Mae Roberts who married Bill Somerville of West Monroe, La. She is a Wyly descendant and a fromer DAR and leader of the Natchitoches, La. Geneaology Society until her death. Militia officer James Rutherford Wyly, War of 1812, Florida, was the brother of Elizabeth Wyly They were together when their mom Jemima Cleveland Wyly and Evangelist Edwards or Evan Eddards were taking a group with several children through the Cumberland Gap, 1796, when they were ambushed by Indians and Evan Edwards was killed. Col. Ben Cleveland gave his daughter Jemima East Felicianna Parrish, Clinton La. area land, where Elizabeth lived some with her4 mother who raised raised Edwards and Cleveland children. there. Militia, , John Cleveland, and Gen. Ben Cleveland, both of War of 1812, Florida. They kept Jemima's husband &distant cousin , a Cleveland.from trying to take over the children heirs Louisiana interests. James R. was comfortablly well off by then and Elizabeth was married and independent, so they claimed none of their mom's land. , including Edwards and Cleveland children. The land was given to jemima by her dad Co. Be Cleveland of Rev. War, N.C. Militia. Lots of Sparks families in Erath County. Also, in 1946-50 the head mechanic at Stephenville Wolfe's Nursery was "Sonny Boy" Roberts, when dad and I worked there seasomally , since shipping time was not usually prime farming time.
