Hi, Follow me to Primitive Baptist Bosque Association - from Little Flock near Temple to Erath County to the Brazos River. Other associations are connected to this site by links in Coryen and Erath County 1. Open your Internet. 2.Go to search window on Home page and type in Google. Later, put it in your favorites. 3.In the Google Search window , type in BOSQUE COUNTY PRIMITIVE BAPTIST ASSOCIATION 4. first one is Bosque Couty. others in Erath and Coryell Counties and McKinney and more are listed below it. Many Erath County names in all these churches with detailed beliefs. Remember, back then , a Pastor was the only paid staff and he was sometimes paid with canned goods, fresh fruit and vegetables, fresh deer, pork, or beef, , Fresh or dressed chickens, or anything of useful value. Ever been to a Preacher pounding? We had them in Bosque County. Bet thosae young student preachers got tired of canned squash. Some churches near a Railroad or the Interurban from Dallas and Fort Worth to Waco would send the pastor or guest speaker round trip ticket. and give him and his family a guest bedroom Sometimes they shared a 1 room school , some with Lodge upstairs and community activities downstairs and on the grounds, like Old Indian Creek Church, near Pleasant (Chigger) Hill off 281 opposite from Selden Turnoff. The Primitive Baptists followed the Creed of Presbyterian Calvinist Churches of 1700's and differences arose over instrumental music and over if some were Predestined to spend eternity in Hell. Most pastors were educated in other fields and preaching was part time. Missionary Baptists and BMA and Southern did not have a Creed, but a statement of basic faith agreed on by each church as they felt led. Take care, Charles A.
