Hi, Wasn't one Dr. Richey a teacher in Tarleton, 1940's 1950's? If so, some of your family history may be in the Local History and Geneaology section. My memory may fail me, but seems one of Mom's acqyiuaintes was a Martha Jane Strickland. , a teacher and some of them attended Selden Church. My wife's mom ,Annabelle Ash as a girl, had moved from Decatur, her birthplace to Beseda community, then to Egan then Sand Flat. She has 2 sisters buried in the Egan Cemetery, She married Alvin Norman Riley in Cleburne Courthouse and moved to Big Spring, later to Levelland. His mom was Alice Marie Renfro Riley, buried with her second Husband,a Mr. Spence in Levelland, Texas. Jeanne also had a cousin they call Aunt Liza Ash of Timbrerline Drive in South Fort Worth and a farm in Egan, where two murder victims from Alvarado were found abused and shot and choked with a broomstick; Kenneth Allen McDuff and a friend of Waco area were convicted and served time, but they had to kill more in McLennan County to finally ave an execution carried out. The friend said McDuff bragged to him about killing a girl near Austin, but don't think they could prove that one. Anyhow,Jeannie's "Aunt Liza" would not go back to the farm or the Egan- Beseda area unless with someone and home before sundown. Prison did not change McDuff, but the execution did. The kids were playing with several others near Burleson Football Field by night lights when kidnapped. They had left home for a dance- party in the old Home Economics Department in Alvarado when a certin pressure group went to 4 school Board members to stop dancing that night and that year- and their parents did not know this when the kids left home. Take care, Charles A.
