Hi, Kathy - I had more Sparks families in FTM- old version which did not transfer to 7.0. Will see where they went- and not sure if the Col. Sparks connects to the ones in Alabama and Tennessee- but usually most names did. If I am not confused, Ruth Sevier married Col. Sparks and her dad was Col. John Sevier. He was Grandad 8 generations ago- I have more on these families in Sevier Family History by Cora Bailes Sevier and Nancy Sevier Madden. The book is on free Inter library loan and has a few hundred pages of Family listings- some sent by Velma Kay Huggins, of Erath County Wyly and Kay and related families in Texas. She was born in the Selden Area- a cousin and Certified Genealogist I believe Roy Kay Jr. still lives in Stephenville. They are of the Kay- Wyly-Hatchett family land now occupied by the Hoelscher Dairy. Try the [email protected] .COM SITE and ask for Sparks family Histrory. Governor Sevier was a Rev. War and Indian Wars Col. and a Gov. of Franklin (East Tennessee) and Gov. of Tennessee several terms- He was also in the first, 11 th, and 12 th U.S. Congress and if you visit The Capitol Building , his Statue there in the hall of State represents theState of Tennessee. he died starting the survey cutting part of Alabama and Mississippi above the Tennessee River loop out of the State of Tennessee. Some moved there in old Territory North of the Ohio and thought they were in Tennessee- so folks did not move as often as some records make them appear to. Somebody was moving State lines and County lines as it developed, both in Texas and Tennessee Col. Sevier had 17 children . Did you know that if you were born South of the Red River near the river or lake, between the water and the Tree Line, today you would be legally born in Oklahoma, not Texas, according to several Court decisions- one fairly recent. Take care, Charles A. Wyly
