    3. Hi, Mike, some Selden land leased for $300.00 per acre last year. From Lipan to Weatherford andtowards Wise and Denton Counties may go for $350.00 per acre- The Denton- Wise County gas wells are from the same deep strata of flint hard shale many feet thick and from 400 to 1000 feet deep. This is now supplying many States between Decatur and Canada. As long as Crude is above $40.00 per barrel they will drill for the gas. Many years agpo, appx. 1950, Grandad and Wyly and Kay families leased for about $5.00 to $10.00 per acre. A test well was capped at Selden Church which had some oil, 2 layers of Coal and some Gas, like the shallow Laney Wells. So far, if Grandad's old home place is leased, we have not seen our half of the lease money. Others adjoining it is leased.Kay land joined Grandad on 2 sides- Three , counting Roy's summer place in "Hatchettville". Good to hear from you, Charles On Thu, 3 Feb 2005 12:43:37 -0800 Mike Furman <mefurman@wayfarer1.com> writes: > Dear Erath fans, > Wonders never cease! Mr grandfather, John P.
