Callie, It is probably distant kin. Our immigrant McElroy family had five sons, and our ancestor was Archibald McElroy. He had three brothers that moved to KY. The closest match I find is a John McElroy, II, born 1754, married bef 1772, in NC, to Elizabeth. Thanks for writing.
