Oh, what I wouldn't love to say - YES!!!But, I can't - not yet! I am working on THEORY of a Slaughter - Hardesty line. Please "gentle readers" don't take it as fact. Keeping in mind that it is a THEORY only at this time. :-) So: My 2 questions are: 1. Are there any --any -- SLAUGHTER members on this list who might have drifted from any of the old trails to Erath and areas before the CW and other major conflicts of Texas history. 2. Who might have relatives coming from Ann Arundel, Maryland -- Wheeling Virgnia to Coshocton - Muskeegon Ohio - to Ogle IL --- down the river -- to Saline and other Southern IL counties of Union, Pope, Hardin Illinois and ----and then Erath in 1900s - I'm guessing that there are plenty of "relatives" -- I just haven't had the opportunity to meet them --yet! I did find a map the other day - showing the Cherokee Trail of Tears -- ran straight through the township of Jonesboro, Union County Illinois which was the area that the Gossage-Hart greatgrand parents lived in. As I read the map-- it shows several towns-villages and stations along this trail. I don't believe that SLAUGHTER or GOSSAGE had settled in that area at the time. I'm still researching that. My Slaughter/Carter connections might - must have some link - to the Slaughter/Wylie lines even my Grandma Sarah the eldest child of Silas Carter, and the older sister of Mary E Carter who married the Rev John R. Slaughter. Mary - John Slaughter and their children are listed in census records living in Stephensville, they even had a couple of children with the same names as 2 of my Aunts. I know there is a CARTER to Slaughter in Texas with that linkage. The Slaughter to Slaughter -- don't know. and the Slaughter - Wylie I don't know either. I wish I did though. Best wishes - Rachel - housemouse of AZ. "Regarding: any connection to Col. C.C. Slaughter of Tesas Army under Sam Houston- a full size statue of him on his horse is near Buckner's Orphan's Home in Dallas- and his ranch was in New Mexico and West Texas- Any connection to the pharmacist of Stephenville Slaughter Drug Store? Any connection to George Slaughter of Fort Worth, Texas and Roswell, N.M.? --- " _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive larger attachments with Hotmail Extra Storage. http://join.msn.com/?PAGE=features/es
