The information below is from my second cousin on my Father's side. His name is Tyler Wayne Pryor. He has much more on the Pryors from Erath County. If anyone would like his information, I will pass the question on to him with your email address. And he can answer you direct. He may sign on to this listserve, but don't know when. Reba Criner I m not sure yet, just when the John R. Pryor's came to Erath County. But my aunt Mary E. Pryor was born in Erath County on October 6, 1887 is recorded in the birth records in that county, so I assume they moved to Erath County before that. It has been handed down to me that Grandfather Pryor came to Texas and homesteaded some land near what is now called the Bunyan Community. He cleared the land and built a dugout to live in, then went to Hope Arkansas and got his bride and came to Texas and got married. I have a question about that as to why go to Arkansas and get his future bride then come back to Texas. Back in those days that kind of thing does not happen. When I was born, I was born on the old homestead and I remember the place where the dugout was. My Grandfather lived with us on the old homestead and my father farmed and raised cattle there until we moved to Lamesa in 1934 on the same farm that Uncle Josh and Aunt Myrtle (Pryor) Bostick (we called her Aunt Mryt) lived on, they were our next door neighbors. We left Lamesa and moved back to Erath County at Morgan Mill. when I got back from the service I married a girl from there. We had our first child there and then I went to Lamesa and played Baseball for the Lamesa Lobo's and Uncle Josh And Aunt Myrt took care of my wife and my baby when I was on road trips. When a large sandstorm came, which my wife had never seen, Uncle Josh told her it was a real bad storm and put her in the cellar for about an hour she has never forgotten that but they were the greatest of buddies. When he had the washer (laundry business), Mednia would go to do her washing and Uncle Jush would put our little naked boy in the first tub in front without any clothes on and let him play in the water, It embarrassed my wife to see people come in and see him but Uncle Josh would keep him there. Well guess that is about enough of remembering so will close and hope to hear from you soon.
