Sam Rayburn was from Bonham. He was Speaker of the House when Lyndon Johnson was Majority Leader of the Senate and DDE was President. They were both powerful allies of FDR in the House when Sam Russell was there and Garner was VP. They brought us things like Social Security, REA, pretty rock buildings in state parks, and employment for men whose families were hungry. 4. The lake north of Stephenville was in a state park, but I thought it was called Stephenville State Park.
