    3. "The Trail Drivers of Texas" There is just a small line mentioning other good cowboys in a story by Fred Sutton of Oklahoma City called the Chisholm Trail, F.E. Herring of Elk City is mentioned. No Hightowers listed Tami Ramsey Dublin, VA ----- Original Message ----- From: <PJHDNH@aol.com> To: <TXERATH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, May 21, 2005 10:14 AM Subject: Re: [ERATH] Old Cowboy Stories > Thanks... wondering if there was any Herring or Hightowers listed in that > book? > dh > > > ==== TXERATH Mailing List ==== > --- Author Retains Copyright --- > -- Copyright 2005 Author -- All Rights Reserved > Post to List: TXERATH-L@rootsweb.com http://www.selfroots.com > Unsubscribe request To: TXERATH-L-request@rootsweb.com > ARCHIVES: http://searches2.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl >

    3. Do their happen to be any RATLIFF'S or ANDERSONS mentioned. They were actually at Ft. Belknap and Ft. Griffin during all the Indian problems. The Anderson family stayed in one of Mr. Goodnight's trail cabins close to Trinidad Colorado as they took their herd from Texas into Colorado. Henry Anderson, the patriarch of the family, collected wild horses, broke them and sold them to the military, as well as civilians. He was in Young County during the Elm Creek Indian Raid. You have to have a lot of pride in our ancestors....they were made of tough stuff. JoRetta Lewis

    3. No Ratliff's. There is a story about Mr. L.B. Anderson of Seguin, Guadalupe County, Texas. He was born in Amite County, Mississippi on March 24, 1849. The story talks of the trip from Mississippi to Texas and his cattle driving experiences after arriving. There is also a small piece written by W.P. Anderson who was a Railroad agent at Abilene, Kansas in the late 60's (1860's) and had to do with the first shipments of cattle out of that place. It begins with "In reference to Mr. Goodnights allusion to my blazing the trail for the Joe McCoy herd...... Let me know if any of these Anderson's let me know and I'll scan them up for you.
