    3. During the depression,,,,,the govt gave out grants to artists,,,,,writers, etc to go and write stories about their local area. One of these writers was Angie DeBoe who wrote about the indians in Oklahoma. It's her books that we all now read telling the history of the Indians from the east coast to the settlement of Oklahoma. I also found other stories about Texas,,,but this was years ago that I read them,,,,,it would be worth looking them up again. The govt has all these stories written by their grantees. eva

    3. There is also a book called "The Trail Drivers of Texas" originally published in 1924. It is a fascinating compilation of oral histories from about 300 Early cowboys. It was re-published by the University of Texas in 1996 and can be found in most book stores. I checked but there wasn't a Huckabee in the index. Tami Ramsey Dublin, VA
