To Margaret, Thank you for the information on the TEXSHARE data bases. I live in SC and will check to see if a similar program is offered through our libraries. Cleo Malone Gartner

The TEXSHARE data bases are available to those who live in Texas only. I understand that many other states have a similar program. With the TEXSHARE program, residents of Texas have on line access to certain data bases. To access these data bases, these residents of Texas get a user name and password from a participating library. One of these data bases is Heritage Quest. Due to budget problems, the State of Texas can no longer pay for this service. Last year genealogists in Texas pledged enough money to pay for the service for one year. In order to keep is for another year, we will need to do the same thing. Since you do not live in Texas, I suggest that you check with your local library or a large library near you to see if your state has a similar program. Thanks Margaret! Kathy
I accidentally deleted the message about the Texshare Data Bases ...would someone please tell me where that can be found. Thanks, Kathy Tate
I do not live in Texas but my ancestors did so that's where my research is. Can someone please tell me what TEXSHARE data bases are and how does it work. Thank you, Cleo Malone Gartner
Again this year as last year, if we want to continue to have access to Heritage Quest through TEXSHARE, we will need to pay for it. This link http://www.texshare.edu/programs/academicdb/pledges/fy05/index.html will take you to the web page where there is more information on the pledges needed. Genealogists from the State of Texas stood up last year to save this program. Let's hope that we can do the same this year. Please pass this information to everyone you can think of. Thank you for this Cindy!!!!! SusanStephenville Empire Newspaper 21 July 1911 page 8 From Cindy Shipman on microfilm at the Dick Smith Library The Roberts Family Reunion Family reunions are becoming so common that there is no longer the newsiness connected therewith as formerly, but the reunion of the Roberts family on July 13 at Valley Grove {Erath, Texas} was not of the ordinary kind. Numerically speaking it eclipsed anything in the family reunion line the Empire has heard of or read about. Fifty people at such a gathering has generally been considered a big crowd and if a hundred could be assembled, it was a whopper. But on this occasion one-hundred-thirty-six of the Roberts assembled and had a big dinner and talked about the past present and future, as they spent the day together. The only individual at the great table not related by blood or marriage to the family was photographer K. N. Baxley and a few special friends of the family. Those present were as follows: L.F. Roberts {Leonard Franklin & Matilda Adeline DuPuy Roberts}, wife and 4 children; I.N. Callie, Records for many counties in Texas have been microfilmed and are housed at various colleges around the state. They are available for inter-library loan. Perhaps a public library near you can order the film that you need. This web site http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/arc/local/index.html lists the counties whose records have been microfilmed and the college where they are housed. On the web page that I have given you, scroll down and click on "List of Depositories with County Holdings" for the address to write to for inter-library loan. Scrolling down a little farther will take you to a list of the counties. Clicking on the county of your interest will give you a list of the records that are available. It has been a while since I borrowed any film through this program, but, as I recall, you may keep the film for two weeks (it must be left at your library) and can be renewed once. Thanks Margaret, I will try that. Callie ----- Original Message ----- From: <mygen@att.net> To: <TXERATH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, March 06, 2005 10:42 PM Subject: Re: [ERATH] Old Erath > Callie, > > Records for many counties in Texas have been microfilmed and are housed at various colleges around the state. > > Margaret McCleskey, Arlington, Texas > > -------------- Original message from "Callie Waits" <calliewaits@digitex.net>: -------------- > > > > Thanks Cindy, I was so in hopes they would be online. Thanks again Cindy At the present time, I need a knee replacement. It is very hard for me to walk or climb, going down is worse than going up, especially on a ramp. Callie - the library has a ramp access and interior elevators so it is possible to avoid the steps. Parking might be an issue if walking is difficult. Call ahead to check on visitor and/or handicap parking. Before you make the drive over...the tax rolls may have been published. Maybe someone on the list is aware of a published version? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Callie Waits" <calliewaits@digitex.net> To: <TXERATH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, March 06, 2005 10:05 PM Subject: Re: [ERATH] Old Erath > Thanks Cindy, I was so in hopes they would be online.
