I've learned once more public libraries are in danger of losing funding for access to TexShare. I'm sure many of you like me make extensive use of it for on-line research. If you would like more information about this and how to help please contact me off list. Be patient if my spamtrap holds your mail for a little while.
Hi, Warren Bety was a movie star. Was the Fort Worth wild game supplier named Clyde Beaty or Frank Buck? Sorry about that- It's been a long day. On Mon, 25 Apr 2005 20:22:44 -0500 "Charles A. Help! Check the names in scotch Irish site listing Wright, Beaty (sp), Love. and Graham. These names were not uncommon in Erath County and in Ireland they were connected. . If my memory is accurate,, Warren Beaty - Bring em back alive Beaty was from Fort Worth and a very active supplier 0f wild live animals for American market and he gave some of the African animals to the Fort Worth Zoo in 1930-s and 40's . This was when the Dallas zoo did not compare to Fort Worth's zoo. I also attended school in Stephenville High or Tarleton with a Beaty . Seems he was red headed , which was not uncommon. Charles Wyly --------- Forwarded message ---------- From: "Care" <care_2@cros.net> To: Scotch-Irish-L@rootsweb.com Date: Sat, 1 Jan 2005 08:56:23 -0500 Subject: [Sc-Ir] Still Looking for Beatty/Beattie/Beaty, Wright, Love, Graham Message-ID: <00af01c4f009$ae4759a0$d926ced8@computer1> Happy New Year Everyone; A new year is beginning and I am still researching the family of Joseph Beatty/Beattie/Beaty. All that I know about him is that he was married twice, he was born in Scotland and migrated to Northern Ireland and lived in the vicinity of Dublin. The first wife died and the children of that marriage moved to Canada somewhere, and these children were farmers. Emily Wright used to correspond with these Beatty's as she was a cousin. My great great grandmother, Rose Love, was Joseph's 2nd. wife and by the sounds of a letter I have in my possession died in Lonsdale, Providence Co., Rhode Island, sometime between 1885 - 1886. Here are just a few details: Joseph Beatty [and Variations] married Rose Love, their daughter Elizabeth Beatty married Robert Wright, probably in the county of Down, Northern Ireland. Elizabeth was born 27 April 1858. Robert Wright was a foreman in a flax mill in Killyleagh, Down Co., Northern Ireland. The Wright's immigrated between 1886 and 1887. Robert Wright's parents were William and Mary [Graham] Wright. Robert and Elizabeth Wright had the following children: Mary, they called her Minnie, b: 27 July 1880 in Killyleagh, Down Co., NI Emily, they called her Emma, b: 1882, more than likely in Killyleagh Sarah, they called her Sadie], b: 18 Dec. 1884, in Armagh, Armagh Co., NI Rose Ann, they called her Annie, b: 09 Oct. 1887, in Northbridge, Worcester Co., MA Jane, they called her Jennie, b: 20 Jan. 1890, in Northbridge, Worcester Co., MA William, they called him Willie, b: 21 April 1892, in Whitinsville, Worcester Co., MA Beatrice, they called her Bea, b: 29 March 1896, in Whitinsville, Worcester Co., MA Somehow the Beatty's or the Wright's are connected to the Little's, Edward's and McEwen/McKeown families that lived in Rhode Island but I can't make a connection as everyone of those families have long past away. If anyone is connected to these families and knows who Joseph's first wife would have been, please message me at: care_2@cros.net I have been looking for these Beatty's for a long time for my mother. She is 82 years old and knows nothing about her father's mother Elizabeth Beatty/Beattie/Beaty. Cheryl Myers [L392 on BP2000] Researching families hopefully connected to my Wright's and Beatty's; Love, Graham, Little, Edwards, McEwen/McKeown, Matteson

Margaret, Thank you for the marriage date of Willie & Riggs. Riggs was, in 1910, living with his sister Theodocia Roberts Dawson, (Docia). These articles appeared in the Erath paper: ErathCounty Appeal Newspaper 12 Oct 1899 " J. N. Groenbeeck and Riggs Roberts visited the Dallas fair this week." ErathCounty Appeal Newspaper 18 Oct 1900, page 831 "Riggs Roberts (age 31) and Tom Minter left Monday to attend the fair at San Angelo. They expect to enter the shooting contest." ErathCounty Appeal Newspaper 19 July 1900 page 704 "The Greren-Roberts fishing party returned Saturday evening. It was composed of Riggs, Charley, Will and Leonard Roberts: and T. G. and Roy Geren. T. G. Geren returned on the 4th, the others were gone twenty-three days and would have liked to stay a month longer." Riggs was a deputy town clerk in Stephenville in 1900. In 1904 Riggs ran for tax collector against Davis S. Doyle. I wish I knew who won? Riggs & Willie are listed on the 1910 census. By 1912, Riggs was in San Benito Texas running an auto repair shop with his son Kane. I can't find Riggs after that. Perhaps he died? Riggs' first wife was Mattie E. Unknown surname. They married circa 1894? Mattie died 1 Apr 1899. They had Kyle Kane in 1895 and Cressie in 1 Oct 1898. She died 26 Mar 1899 & is buried in the Old Valley Grove Cemetery. Riggs grandfather was John Henry Roberts who sailed down the Mississippi with McCormick. John's sister Elizabeth Roberts Salmon received a land grant, Dec. 1839, in the Red River District, Erath. If you would like more info, let me know? BTW I am the one who provided the Farrer website the Roberts information. I have not been able to figure out how to put my stuff on RootsWeb, so I offered it to Randy Farrer and he generously put it up for me. Susan Roberts
OK - no connection to Erath Co. I had an aunt, Edith McCormick McElroy that married in Erath Co. Really think she was born a Halbert, and her mother married John T McCormick. Edith married James Hubert McElroy. If you are using Family Tree Maker 2005, you can click on the "web search" button under a man's name (or woman's for that matter) and it will give you a list of possible sources on Ancestry.com for that person. Among those sources are WWI draft cards for some states including Texas and Oklahoma, among others. You can view the images on line and save them to your computer. Callie, you may be aware that the World War I draft registration cards for Texas are available for viewing at the Federal Archives and Records Center in Fort Worth. The cards are filed alphabetically by county and by surname for Bosque, Hamilton, and I'm sure Erath counties. They are on microfilm, and the quality is fair at best. You can make a copy for a fee.
