    1. [ERATH] Clark Ancestry for the list
    2. Richard and Laura Morgan
    3. Hello everyone- This is some of my Clark ancestry from Erath County, Texas. Anyone make any connections or have anything to offer? Descendants of George Marshall Clark Generation No. 1 1. GEORGE MARSHALL2 CLARK (JOEL1) was born 17 Nov 1849 in Missouri Twp, Pike Co. AR, US1,2,3,4,5, and died 01 Aug 1925 in Stephenville, Erath Co, TX, US6,7. He married (1) UNKNOWN. He married (2) CATHERINE ANN HILTERBRAND 03 Oct 1878, daughter of JOHN HILTERBRAND and SOPHIA SMATHERS. He married (3) ANNIE HARRISON 1914. Notes for GEORGE MARSHALL CLARK: R257 - Letter from Harvey C. Byrd, Grand Secretary of Masonic Lodge. Records reflect the following: G.M. Clark Stephenville Lodge, No. 267 Initiated 7-12-1890 Passed 9-12-1890 Raised 1-8-1891 Died 8-1-1925 Served as Senior Steward 1901 Notes for CATHERINE ANN HILTERBRAND: The following was written by J.D. Jackson, Baptist Minister. Catherine Clark died 14 May 1911. ----------------------------------------- " In Memoriam Catherine Ann Hilterbrand Clark I was summoned to take part in conducting the funeral service of Mrs. Katy Clark, wife of our dearly beloved Geo. M. Clark. Deceased had been a good and useful member since organization of the Methodist Church of Smith Springs. During nearly a quarter of century I have lived almost in sight of the smoke of the chimney of the family. I have worked in Mr. Clark's fields, have eaten at his table, and slept in his home, and can speak advisedly of the Christian life of the deceased. She was in deed and in truth salt of the earth. And in her death the Church neighborhood, her husband, and her children have met with a loss which cannot be expressed in words. Their home was a home of charity. It has been an adage in the community that no one ever went to the Clark house for a favor and was turned away. In these graces husband and his wife were equally matched. Their hearts were open doors through which the needy and distressed found entrance and relief. Both have walked the rugged path of life, hand in hand and heart in heart performing God's required duties six days in the week of doing religion. But, alas, the end has come and God has said to Sister Clark, "Come up higher, your work is ended." I will say to my dear friend Geo. M. Clark, "You carry with you in this saddest hour of your life, the sympathy of the multitudes of friends who mingle their tears with yours as you journey on until God shall call you up to the home of the beloved." Deceased was 51 years old, was mother of eleven children some of whom preceded her to Celestial regions above. - J.D. Jackson " ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------------------------------------------- Children of GEORGE CLARK and CATHERINE HILTERBRAND are: i. 3. There was an article about Thurber in this last Sunday's Stephenville paper. Was very interesting and told about it's beginnings and how it waspopulated by people from many countries. Had information about the cemeteries there as well. As you've probably found, there are several Tacketts and a few Moodys in the Stephenville-Dublin area. As for the History Channel, I didnt see the show you mentioned listed for purchase, nor did I find it at their site after searching under "Thurber, or Texas", but here is something I copied off their site for you: If you have questions about ordering online, e-mail us at homevideo@aetv.com or call Customer Service at 800-408-4842, 7 days a week, 7am-4am EST. Please have your order number handy. If you contact us by e-mail, please provide your order number and full name in the body of the message. 1. [ERATH] ERATH CO., TX SURNAMES
    2. Sue Skinner
    3. Hello to all, My Erath County surnames include HIGHTOWER and PATTERSON. Melissa Frances ("Fannie") HIGHTOWER and Mark HERRING were early settlers, as well as Sarah Elizabeth ("Sally") HIGHTOWER and Jesse M. PARNELL. There was also Rebecca Eveline HIGHTOWER and Lee (?) HUFFSTUTLER, but I'm not sure of their place of residence. My grandmother, Trecy Louella ("Ella") was the youngest member of this HIGHTOWER family. Ella married Peter Donathan PATTERSON in Erath County 14 May 1885. My father, Irving Mack PATTERSON, was born in Erath Co., 7 Jul 1889. Dad's uncle, David Joshua PATTERSON was an Erath County Commissioner. After the death of Peter Donathan in the Oklahoma Territory, Ella PATTERSON and her 3 small sons returned to Erath Co. Ella lived near her HIGHTOWER relatives around Morgan Mill and near her PATTERSON relatives in Tolar, Hood County. Many of my ancestors are buried in the HIGHTOWER Cemetery between Morgan Mill and Lipan in Hood County. My sister and I have recently returned from a trip to Texas, including Erath Co. We met a beautiful grand daughter of Fannie and Mark HERRING .. Vashtie Keahey .. in Bluff Dale. She remembered our grandmother "Ella" and some of the scandal concerning Dad's brother, "Reese" PATTERSON. Vashtie was a delight .. a lovely lady. If any of you have an opportunity to correspond or converse with distant relatives, please do so! Vashtie had us laughing and close to tears! She gave us an old picture of our grandmother that we had no idea existed. This one visit was worth the whole trip! Anyone know anything about these ancestors of mine? If you do, I'd like to exchange information. Sue

    2. Sue Skinner
    3. Good Morning!, I hope someone on this list can help me with some information. I have been told there will be a Cemetery Working - Reunion of sorts - sometime the first of May at the HIGHTOWER CEMETERY between Morgan Mill in Erath Co., and Lipan in Hood Co. Can anyone please provide me with correct date and time? Appreciate any help, Sue Patterson Skinner rowdy@yucca.net
