Annette, The Clairette Cemetery has not been transcribed and posted on the Internet however "Erath County Cemetery Inscriptions", Vol. I, II, III was published some years ago by Weldon Hudson & Shirley Cawyer and is widely available at many genealogy libraries. You might check Library of Congress website here on the Internet for the availability if you can not locate it in the Greater Phoenix area. I would think that you might locate these set of books there. Bill McCarty/Odessa, TX

Hello all. Hope someone recognizes these folks and can provide some additional info. My gg grandparents, Daniel Anderson (b.@1812, SC) and Martha H. Venable (b.@1816, GA) married on January 17, 1837 in Forsyth County, Georgia. The raised their families in GA, ARK, and Texas. They appear in the 1880 census by themselves, living in Dublin, Erath County, Texas. Daniel was still farming at that time. One daughter, Martha Leona Anderson Woodall was living in Hillsboro, Hill Co, TX, and had at least one of her children in Dublin - must have been visiting her folks. Several other of the Anderson children stayed fairly close - Erath, Hill, Tarrant Counties. I think Daniel died before the turn of the century. Can someone tell me where I can find a record of his death, if it was in Erath County in the late 1990s? I think it was before 1997-8, because Martha H. Venable Anderson was living with her daughter in Hillsboro by that time. I notice several Venables in Erath County, but have no idea if they are connected to Martha. All I know about her family is that her parents were born in VA, according to various census records. Is Dublin still an active town? What was it like in 1880? I'd appreciate anything lister may have. Let me know if I have some info I can share with you. Sandy Crowley (California) 74777.3203@compuserve.com
Hi, a B.D. Click ran a construction company 20 years ago- may still do so. Check your Associated General Contractors office or directory. It also seems a Click ran a used car lot on I-35 in McLennan County between Abbott and West (Old timers called it West Station) . He moved to Stephenville- he had worker with my cousin Hulon Carey in Grandbury or Stephenville and I bought a Pinto from him for my mother in law. She paid but asked me to get something cheap and easy to drive. It was her last car. The Stephenville phone book listsDARREN CLICK, DUBLIN, TEXAS AND LOONEY CLICK OF BUNYAN, TEX.dARREN IS AT 254-445-4032. LOONEY is at254-445-4689. CLICK'S AUTO SALVAGE is on the Dublin Highway, Stephenville, Texas254-968-3550. CLICK'S MOTORS USED CARS IS IN sTEPHENVILLE- SAME PHONE NUMBER. bET THEY EITHER HAVE A COMPUTER FOR e MAIL OR A HOT LINE. Some younger operators catalof all useable parts on each car and communicate by E mail rather than the old noisy Short wave hot lines. I notice one is named Looney. Mr. Looney ran a salvage and wrecking yard on the lod Glen Rose hiway in the 1930's to 50's and his son Ancil ran an auto shop in Stephenville. Mr. Looney made a lot of money selling parts during World War II when new civilian cars were not being made and parts were scarce. Dad had his old Chevy P.U. rebuilt by J.D. Holbrook machine shop and some parts were " bootlegged " from Mexico. Some looked strange, but they worked. Wonder if this Click could have had a Looney grandmother or mother????. . Hi, have no tree records of those in your request but can locate a branch or two. I have a Selden school photo somewhere and some snapshots if I can find them. I don't personally remember any my age, but the Stricklands were well respected in Selden. Hello. I am new to the list so I thought I would introduce myself and tell you what I am seeking. My mother was born in Dublin in 1916 and went to school there. Her parents arrived in Erath County about 1900. They were William (Will) Henry PRICE and Cynthia Jane (Jenny) PRICE. They had 8 children, 6 of whom were born in Stephensville and Dublin. They brought both sets of parents to live near them in Dublin. My GGrandparents were William Walter PRICE (d. Dublin 1905) and Marena WILLIAMSON PRICE who died there in 1912. Both my grandfather and GGrandfather PRICE were music teachers. My Grandmother's parents were Alford Mitchell (A.M.) STRICKLAND and Elizabeth Jane (Lizzie) BERRY STRICKLAND also lived there as well as many of their children. AM STRICKLAND died in Dublin in 1926 and Lizzie STRICKLAND died there in 1923. I would like to know more about them as well as other family members who may have joined them in Erath County. I am also very interested in my mother's early childhood. I know that times were very rough for them after their father died. Perhaps there is someone who had school records or marriage and death records that could check out these names for me and give me more information on the PRICE/STRICKLAND/WILLIAMSON families in Erath County. I live in Oceanside California if I can be of any assistance to anyone. Gayla

Since internet genealogy and computers go hand in hand, I felt it appropriate to comment. A split second power interruption is all it takes to crash the system. I have an uninterruptible power supply which I bought here in Stephenville. It is basically a 120 volt battery that provides alternating current. It plugs into the wall outlet, and the computer plugs into it. It is supposed to provide 20 minutes of power to allow you to shut everything down if you lose power completely. It protects from those split second power interruptions, as well as provides some protection (I don't know how much) from spikes and surges. Since buying the power supply I've had the lights flicker off an on again, but my computer never missed a beat. I really recommend them. I paid over a hundred dollars for mine, but I don't how much they sell for now. Of course, you should shut down everything and unplug from the wall if you hear thunder. Don't forget to unplug the phone cord, too. Also, you should back up important files. I keep backup disks of my genealogy at work as well as at home. You can also save email msgs into your favorite word processing program, either by the cut and paste method or the "save as" method, and put them on disks. The help file on your computer should tell you how. And last, don't forget to back up your email address book, too! I've had crashes and lost stuff too, and it's no fun at all. Charles and All, Any connections or cousins? While living on a farm near Dublin, TX Hezekiah SMALLWOOD plied his trade of master carpenter. He and his son Robert Lee SMALLWOOD built many of the fine mansions in Dublin. Joe Higginbotham, Rufus Higginbotham and John G. Harris homes were built in 1889. Robert Lee SMALLWOOD came to Texas with is father when he was a young man of twenty (1884). He went back north and stayed a year or two, only to return to Texas to spend the remainder of his life. After marriage to Julia DANSBY, they went to Dublin, where he worked as a carpenter, returning later to Hickey Community where they made their home except for one year when they were located at Hasse. In 1893 he became a member of the Baptist Church and soon afterwards starting preaching for the Oak Grove Baptist Church on Alarm Creek. He was a minister there for many years and was serving as minister of Washington Street Baptist Church in Stephenville, TX at the time of his death. Bolton is my ex-husband's family, married 1962-1972, and I haven't done much on that family, leaving that for my two daughters to do when they retire. Hello to all! I'm new to this list and would appreciate any info on the following: James David Woodall (b. March 1855 in Morgan County, AL, raised in Iuka, MS) married Martha Frances "Fanny" Daniel (b. Nov 1866, Van Buren, Williamson County, Ark) in 1882 in Erath County, TX. Can anyone point me to a source for a marriage record? J.D. Woodall's parents were Zephaniah Harvey Woodall and Avarilla Priddy. Fanny Daniel's parents were Wiley E. Daniel and Nancy A. The 1900 census of Erath Co., TX shows J.D. and Fanny with the following family: Nancy A. (Jul 1883), Zephenia (Jul 1887), Joseph C. ( Dec. 1889), John B. (1891), and Hattie M.R. (Oct. 1895.) I am told that there was an older brother, Harvey, but didn't see him on the 1900 census. I found several issues of the Erath Appeal posted on the Erath Co, TX website contained mentions of J.D. Woodall. One article mentioned a trip to Hillsboro, which would make sense. J.D.'s brother, William Rufus Woodall, lived in Hillsboro. One Erath Appeal article mentions that J.D. Woodall lived near Sylvan, but I can't find Sylvan on any maps of the county. Anyone know where it is/was? I have lots on the Woodalls from Georgia to Alabama to Mississippi to Texas, and would be happy to share what I have. I have little on J. D. Woodall. Anyone know of this family? Thanks. Hey, it just hit me. If they were in Arkansas before 1900- like mom's Carey- Stone- Copeland- Bateman line, they may be on Mecklenburg County census and /or in one of the various Cherokee rolls. Possibly they were not intermarried but a sibling was and they joined them. The Blackburn Grist mill- 3 story rock, built in 1840 or before and still running, is on War Eagle River south of Eureka Springs .This is beautiful in August. This and Missouri was once part of the Cherokee nation and non tribal members, kin could buy in after all Trail of Tears and resettlement was over. Tahlequah, Ok. and Cherokee N. Carolina have libraries and pageants. The Eastern chief sayid on the TV that when some indians feel insulted, he laughs all the way to the bank. Many of the Eastern tribe are red headed. The intermarrieds could hide in the mountains and pass as white . They sent money to an Anglo friend to buy the Eastern reservation- it was not given to them by the U.S. Govt. they were , technically, outside the law, Drive from there to Gatlainburg- 40 miles- 2 hours plus of paved switchbacks and beautiful scenery. It took 1/64 or less blood to become a tribal member and today they get free college if they document their bloodline. the National Indian records are kept in Fort Worth, Texas. Hi, Hugh waldrop had a farm at Selden (or was it W.T.) where he attended church into the 1960's or later. I have done postings on Roberts this year. If you do not have them, let me know. I knew a few in Erath, Bosque & Hamilton County, in the three corners near Hico. Let me know if I can add any. the ones I have records of are buried Carlton Fairy, Clairette, and Walnut Springs. Another request today seeks Bonney info. Brushy Bill Roberts (birth name) was raised by his aunt and Uncle , a Bonney in Okla. and Billy Bonney became Billy the Kid of New Mexico, trained by Jesse james and Quantril after hsis dad returned from the civil War and joined the Raiders or Rebel soldiers. He returned to Hico in his old age and is buried at Carlton , I think.. a Roberts founded Fairy, Texas and waskilled by Indians there. Check the documents carefully in the Hico Museum of Billy the Kid. I don't think the Lincoln County, N.M. records would hold up with screnners like the D.A. R. Could be wrong. Much of that story was created by Eastern Dime novel writers, not historians. I knew Brushy Bill.
