    3. Hi, Kathy, this is either the Miller families who lived on the Miller Hill past Elvis Riggs towards Pony creek or on the old Selden- Hico road in the Millerville Community, roughly between Salem ( Little Duffau Area) and Hico, or between Clairette and Duffau. I think Marilyn Mills Ewers book on a History of the Three Way School District has a photo of several Millers around an old house with rock fences in the Miller Hill area of Pony Creek, south of the old school site. Maybe Marilyn,s Book will come to the top, or someone lse might look for this one. 3. Hi, Wasn't one Dr. Richey a teacher in Tarleton, 1940's 1950's? If so, some of your family history may be in the Local History and Geneaology section. My memory may fail me, but seems one of Mom's acqyiuaintes was a Martha Jane Strickland. , a teacher and some of them attended Selden Church. My wife's mom ,Annabelle Ash as a girl, had moved from Decatur, her birthplace to Beseda community, then to Egan then Sand Flat. She has 2 sisters buried in the Egan Cemetery, She married Alvin Norman Riley in Cleburne Courthouse and moved to Big Spring, later to Levelland. His mom was Alice Marie Renfro Riley, buried with her second Husband,a Mr. Spence in Levelland, Texas. Jeanne also had a cousin they call Aunt Liza Ash of Timbrerline Drive in South Fort Worth and a farm in Egan, where two murder victims from Alvarado were found abused and shot and choked with a broomstick; Kenneth Allen McDuff and a friend of Waco area were convicted and served time, but they had to kill more in McLennan County to finally ave an execution carried out. The friend said McDuff bragged to him about killing a girl near Austin, but don't think they could prove that one. Anyhow,Jeannie's "Aunt Liza" would not go back to the farm or the Egan- Beseda area unless with someone and home before sundown. Prison did not change McDuff, but the execution did. The kids were playing with several others near Burleson Football Field by night lights when kidnapped. They had left home for a dance- party in the old Home Economics Department in Alvarado when a certin pressure group went to 4 school Board members to stop dancing that night and that year- and their parents did not know this when the kids left home. 3. I found the Dublin cemetery that I had asked about earlier on Hwy. 6 between Dublin and Hico. It is called Live Oak Cemetery. Saturday I visited in Erath, Comanche and Hamilton counties. It is beautiful country and I would suggest if you have roots in these counties, plan your vacation and go there. Charles Wyly, I drove through many of the places you've talked about in your posts. Now I know where Chalk Mountain is. I saw many of the dairies you've described. But I regret that I didn't take the Stephenville route to see the other dairies. There is one, I didn't see the name of it, on 1702 close to Hwy. 6 that is huge. I also found out yesterday that a great uncle raised his family around Harbin and is buried around there. Do you know the name of a cemetery around Harbin? I visited the cemeteries at Lamkin, Hazeldell, Live Oak in Dublin, and Clairette. Maybe someday we can retire to this part of the state. 3. Hi, Run Rootsweb Archives of Txerath for Keith name and I think you will find a Keith kin had posted the details of this wedding, including the Bride's family name. If you don't find the Archives through Google.com, I may have time next week to search a little Fred became an Oil driller in East Texas. He is in some of the old Oil Museum photos' Some photos show him in a suit, tie, and dress hat and coat watching or teaching the Drillers the next step. The one so dressed may have his shoes hanging on his shoulder. Either Fred or Frank lost some of the Oil leases around the Spindletop well to a Dad Joiner in a Poker game. One of them ran the Galveston Cotton Compress for super compressed bales for export, and facing the Houston ship channel, , hand painted was the name of the manager BAREFOOT (b.f. ) wYLY. he could have learned the cotton business in Atlanta, Ga. or Stephenville. Wylys once had yards in both places- and this branch of the family sold their brother in Law's Mr. Dunn) Hardwood lumber sawed in Dublin and later San Angelo area. Sawmill still runs- We used to see them loading dead pecan trees in Dublin to send to the mill outside San Angelo. Also wonder if Fred could hve learned the Drilling trade on the Laney gas Wells or those in Hogtown (Desdemona)?? Where can I find a list of Oil or Water well drillers in Erath County history? Some shallow oil wells were dug with a wooden framed, wheeled Cable drop bit, but rotaries were faster, esp. in rocks. Charles A. 2. Linda Bowden
    3. Can anyone give me any information about Laura Saunders Way? She is supposed to be buried in the Pecan Cemetery in Erath County. Has that cemetery been recorded? Does she have a headstone? Does anyone know? Does anyone have any other information on her? Linda

    3. Hi, Momused to know a Louise Albritton in Erath County, Texas. Don't remember much about them, but they either lived in Selden or Huckaby, Erath County, Texas. Do you suppose this one was born Louisiana .Allbritton?? Far fetched- ? Seems Great Grandad's grandad Gen. James Rutherford Wyly of Toccoa, Ga.- War of 1812 named his daughter for his mom Jemima Cleveland Wyly Edwards Cleveland, - some records show Louisiana Jemima Wyly- others- same birthdate, show her as Louantis Wyly. Jemima died near Tippah, Miss. in East Feliciana Parish , Clinton, La. where there are volumes of testimony concerning estyate of jemima, given her by Col. Ben Cleveland, her dad. He got the land for his Military Service. Also, Roberts, McCarty, Somerville- Higdon names in Erath County had Louisiana roots. Ross Higdon of Minden- Hodge area quit school to work in a sawmill. He wrote his Grandad- my Great Grandad G.M. Moxley and offerred to work for room and board in Erath County so he could finish High School and possibly attend Tarleton. he attended Selden Church . The Moxley home never had electricity or running water, but Ross considerred this a step up from a life in a North Louisiana Sawmill .
