    3. Its my understanding that you only count those generations that had been born in Texas. So you would start with your third grgrandfather, Frederick, who was born in Texas, and on down to you to count those as Texans. I also have a list identifying the men (one is unknown) for anyone interested in it for any one interested if there is a relative in the photo.

    2. Kathy Tate
    3. Would somebody please tell me exactly how to state generations? For example: If I want to say I'm a 7th (or whatever) generation Texan, where does it start? My gr-gr-gr-gr-gr-grandfather Elijah Isaacks came to Texas (then Mexico) in 1822 ...he was born in South Carolina but died in Texas. His son William, my 4Xgr grandfather, was also born in SC and died in Texas. My 3Xgr grandfather, Frederick, was born in Texas. Now where do I start counting? Would I be a 7th generation "Texan" ...or 6th ...or 5th ...or what? I'm setting up a website for my art work and thought I would go a little further than saying I'm a "native Texan" but I'm not sure where to start counting. Anyone know? Thanks, Kathy Tate -------------------------------- www.kathytate.com

    3. Hi, \you might be interested in a photo of Erath County Confederate Veterans on the Stephenville Courthouse steps- it is in a Erath County Historic Calendar published by Stephenville Town & Country bank and prepared by Dan Young, appx. 1990's or earlier. Brenda Lamb assisted on some years. These calendars have very detailed Bibliographies in the last pages and a historic event for each day, some different from year to year. They should be available in Stephenville library or Dublin Library or Tarleton State Library. I have one somewhere-one for several different years. If you do not find the photo let me know- , . I thought when one retired he did "Honey Dos" or went fishing, but that's hard to do when Waco pays premium wages for retired teachers and other substitutes, including Baylor Students as their schedule fits. 1. Re: [ERATH] Lee Family:
    2. Joe Lee
    3. Thomas Sumral ( 1871-1949), buried Indian Creek, was the son of William Wesley and Malinda C Lucinda Roberson ( daughter of my wife's gggrandparets ( Thomas Walker & Margaret Emerson Roberson). The latter four are buried in Duffau Cemetery. I also show two of William Wesley & Malinda's children to have died in Hale Center, Texas ( Joseph Reed Sumrall ( m. Annie Rogers)& William Elisha Sumrall). Some of the Laneys ( ancestors of former Speaker of the House Pete Laney ) & kin and "shirt tail kin of the Sumralls, also removed to Hale Center from Erath. Ive always wondered if the may have gone that way together or about the same time. I'm always willing to share & swap my genealogical data.
