Read your post on the Erath County list serve.  Noticed your name was Westfall.  There are Westfall's in Irion County.  Some lived in Barnhart and there is a Jim Westfall who was our Irion County Judge who is buried in the Barnhart cemetery.  His son Jimmy Westfall still lives in the Mertzon, Texas area in Irion County.  They lived in Andrews County before moving here. i just returned saturday from THE GREAT STATE OF TEXAS and some great places. i stayed one night in johnson city and met pat althaus tuesday at her ofice in the courthouse. she is a fine lady and pretty well versed on blanco county and its history. she helped me find post oak cemetery where i located the grave of a 3d great grandfather and i took pics of quite a few headstones there. i also photographed stones in gillespies stonewall and trinity lutheran cemeteries. spent the next night in fredericksburg. went to llano for cooper's bbq. could not find anyone to help with the stadt friedhof or greenwood cemeteries so i left the next morning for mason. located and stopped at the gooch cemetery but could not locate my relative's grave there and i went on to coleman to meet up with a cousin who works with me on family history. in mccolloch county i stopped at fife cemetery and photographed almost all stones in it - a few were unreadable. we went on to abilene and while there i was in anson and stamford. took a few fotos in stamford's cemetery but we failed to locate the gravesite of our relative there. i returned to louisiana saturday via gustine in comanche county. stopped in at gustine and met a distant cousin and quite a few of his folks. i took a few fotos in the evergreen cemetery there and later took a lot in the hazeldell cemetery. i wanted to stop in gatesville to visit a lady but was just too tired and ready to get back here. me and my cousin are researching: westfall, cauley, blanco county smith, george webb slaughter and i am researching mother's family - feeler, from callahan, crane, upton and ector counties. lewis westfall

Hi, you mention Ann Arundel- could this be part of the Arendell Family of pioneer Tom Arendell of Stephenville and Selden? His old log cabin is restored on the Open Spaces Dairy, where a cousin moved it from the site built by Tom and restored it to near useable condition- dirt floor, fireplace, old chairs, and all. Wm Richard Slaughter married Sarah Ophelia Carter - Hill county TX. They lived in Erath TX -- and raised: Rufus, Ruby - died as infant- Minnie Alice, Minnie Alice, Wm Henry - Pearl -- oh, John Ennis was born after they moved from Erath to Bisbee, Cochise county AZ. All of the SLAUGHTER children who were born in Erath - moved to Cochise County Arizona, where they all went to school and married. All of them moved to California - Sacramento - San Francisco area and died in respective counties. That is all children except my dad... Wm Henry SLAUGHTER he stayed in Arizona - married a PAYNE. She died 1928. Dad then married again. Dad died Arizona- 1975. My Slaughter history: Sarah Ophelia Carter is the >SISTER< of Mary E SLAUGHTER,nee CARTER, who was married to Rev John R Carter who lived in Stephensville, TX. -- early 1900s. After 2 years of research I have not located a link between the Rev. Slaughter and his lineage to my Wm Richard Slaughter bn Illiinois. -- who knows ? Notes: 1. Died CA. 2. Rufus married- ATTAWAY. d CA 3..Myrtle married Charles BELL - he died, she died in CA 4. Pearl - (aunt peggy to me) - married JARBOE. He died, she married BRITT. She died in CA 5. Wm Henry - Married PAYNE in AZ -- died Arizona 6. John Ennis - only child that was not born in Texas- married in AZ-died in CA 7. Ruby - died as child - is buried in Thurber- Cemetery, Erath County Texas. I am the last living direct link to the ILLINOIS family of John R Slaughter and Nancy C Gossage who married in IL - 1864 who both died there. My eldest sister,died last month - at 79 years and one month. Any list members know of CARTER/SLAUGHTER connections as I've related it?
