Hi Mary Ellen, I wish I knew. My gggrandfather was Sgt. I Blufford Elliott. he married Martha Armstrong Hamilton in Cass County. he served in the 17th TN inf. co. G. b.7/21/1839 d. 3/11/1923 ....I am not sure if he was born in TN or not and I do not know who his family was..that is all still a mystery to me. I know he had several children..Sarah Princess, Robert H, Isaac Blufford Jr. and I am not sure of the rest. I got the civil war info off his headstone this past week and at least it gave me a clue. I searched the net and found his company but he was listed as J B not IB..no wonder he has been so hard to find..but the information was the same as the family bible...that he was a prisoner during the war.
