    3. I am seeking information on Mrs. W.H. Smith who was living in Waxahachie,TX. in 1908. Her maiden name was Rosa Stephenson. Her father was Sylvester Brown Stephenson b. 1837 probably in the the counties of Limestone or Madison in Alabama. Sylvester Brown Stephenson married Mary Holt in Limestone County,Al. in 1857. In 1861, He joined Ward's Artillery in Madison County,Al. He was at the Battle of Kennesaw Mountion and was in the Dalton-Atlanta Campain. His battery was overrun at the Battle of Selma,Alabama and he finished the war with the 28th TN. Cavalry. He belonged to the Winnie-Davis Camp of Confederate Vets. in Waxahachie in the early 1900's where he applied for the Confederate Cross of Honor. He died at the home of Mrs. W.H. Smith on April 7,1908, who lived on Lake Park Ave. in Waxahachie,TX. Newspaper accounts claimed he was buried in the City Cemetery, but he is not listed in the City Cemetery records. All I have on his the initials on Mrs. W.H. Smith. Mrs. W.H. Smith had a brother named Allen W. Stephenson. He is said to have died young. Sylvester, his wife,Mary Holt, and Willam A. Stephenson had their pictures taken at the Littlefield photography Studio in Cleburne,TX. in the 1880'or 1890. From information on the back of one of the pictures,The Holts or Stephensons had relatives in Waxahachie by the names of Brown and Fogg. Is there a 1900 Census of Ellis County? The Stephensons, and Holts lived in Giles County,TN. before moving to Alabama. Its possible that W.H. Smith might also have been from those counties. Any help is greatly appreciated.
