TO: TCELLIS -L members. There has been some exchanges lately about "THE ROADS OF TEXAS", Published 1988 by Shearer Publishing, Fredericksburg, TX. That map book is very good for finding out-of-the way places like Fincastle, a ghost town in Henderson where my great grandmother was buried in 1879. There is nothing left there except a rural church and a small cemetery. It was not in the index but some time with a magnifying glass turned it up. Another case in point. The cemetery at Maypearl shows in that mapbook. By comparison, the Delorme "Texas Atlas and Gazetteer" doesn't even have an emblem for a cemetery in the legend and many small towns are missing. I'm sure the DeLorme was made with the latest cartographic technology but I'm afraid that the technicians and the editor fail to understand this overwhelming desire of genealogists to tromp around in old cemeteries. I hold no stock in Shearer Publishing but I've had a long intimate relationship with their product, The Roads of Texas" and highly recommend it. Someone said there was a 2nd edition out and if so, I'll have a copy as soon as I can. Happy Hunting! Clyde Deavers Lady Lake, FL
