    1. Re: [TXELLIS] Barnett/McCrory
    2. I am a Barnett from Ellis County and have limited information on my grandparents prior to 1900. the follow is in response to previous inquires about John McCrory and I so my aunt's name in the information. My grandfather was James Barnett, 4/27/1869 to 11/24/1945 who came to Texas with 4 of his 5 sisters. He had a farm on Onion Creek in Byrd and is buried at the Elm Branch Cemetery in Bardwell, Ellis County. One of the sisters, Harriett Ulalah Barnett, 6/9/1876-12/1/1959, married John Adam McCrory in 6/1898. John Adam was born 3/5/1876 and died 1/12/1926. My father, Olen Lewis Barnett tells me John Adam is buried in an unmarked grave in the cemetery in Bardwell. Ulalah and John Adam had a son, John Claude McCrory borne 7/3/1914. He died 12/28/1990 and is buried in Sam Houston Cemetery in San Antonio. JC had live in Houston most of his adult life. The other 4 sisters were: Lovedia Barnett, 4/16/1871. Mary Barnett, 6/16/1879 Margaret Jane, 8/16/1882 Julia Barnett, 4/12/1893 who stayed in Alabama. Mae Barnett Pollan Gilbreath, 2/1905-6/10/1984, who is my aunt and the daughter of James Barnett is buried in the cemetery in Ferris and her maker has F.Mae Barnett Pollan. Her first husband was Charlie Barkley Pollan was the principal at the Ferris High School until his death in 1951. I am unable to verify whether my grandfather came from Alabama or Georgia or what brought him to Texas. I understand he didn't marry until the four sisters were married. I would like to exchange information with anyone who might have information on the family. Glenda Dillard 972-227-6923 bmd227@aol.com
