Good idea Carol; I have grandparents, William P. and Heleon(Garner) MITCHELL lived on a farm on Ovilla route near Midlothian/Waxahachie. Their daughter Effie Cordell Mitchell was my Mother. My great grandparents, Robert P and Laura (Anderson) MITCHELL lived immediately East (I believe that's what I was told) of my grandparents. They came to Ellis County around 1875. They, and other family members are buried at Shiloh Cemetery. To the immediate West of Grandpa Will Mitchell lived my Father's uncle, Wallace (Wallis) and Fannie HAYES. When my father visited Uncle Wallace from Fisher County, he and my Mother met. My grand father , Oscar Henry HAYES, and great grandfather, John Wesley HAYES, has Ellis County roots. Many members of the HAYES family are buried at Midlothian Cemetery. I still have relatives that live in the area, but don't know most of them well. I know their names, they know mine ( or my Mother's). Most do not share my obsession with genealogy, so I am seeking information through other channels. MITCHELL names include (2 generations) James(?), Grover, Dewitt, Hattie*, Carrie*, Mary(called Babe)* (* all married LAVENDAR brothers) Maggie (married Albert THOMPSON); Bertha (m1 Bliss Cavendar, m2 Charlie Bailey), Jesse, Bob, Herman. HAYES names Lillie Etta, Molly, Dona, Fred, Edgar, Fay, Ira, Glad to share any information I have. ----- Original Message ----- From: Carol Couch <ccouch@ancestry.com> To: <TXELLIS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 26, 2000 5:29 PM Subject: [TXELLIS] E mail > I have really been interested in all of the activity on this list lately. I would like to offer a challenge that has benefited others in the past. Why not take a few minutes to tell what family you are researching in Ellis County. If everyone on the list would take a few minutes and do this, I think that many of us would find others researching the same lines. My family ties to Ellis county are through John Meredith Couch who died in Italy, Texas 06/14/1900. He was a coowner of the Couch Bros. & Hamlett store in Italy. I hear the building still stands. > I also am related to the George Washington Underwood line. he died in Waxahachie, Texas 07/16/1956. If you are researching either of these lines I would like to hear from you. Now everyone else, who are you researching? > > Carol Couch > > > Get Your Free E-mail at Ancestry.com (http://www.ancestry.com) > Ancestry.com -- For all your Family Correspondence! >
