    3. Rob, Retha Mae Sevier Mitchell (1899-1995) was my step-grandmother & lived in Milford, Ellis Co., Texas. Her first husband (my grandfathers brother), Oscar C. Mitchell, died after being thrown from a horse in 1921; leaving her with three young children. In May 1923 about 9 months after my father was born, my grandmother, Ophelia Lindsay, (Joseph Jeffrey Mitchell's first wife), died of pnuemonia; leaving five young children. Retha Sevier & Joseph "Jeff" Mitchell married giving the minor children a home & loving parents. They later had three children together. Can you give me any additional information on my Mitchell/Lindsay/Sevier family? God bless, Phyllis Mitchell Strider :~) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robert Richardson" <Rob_Richardson@Prodigy.net> To: <TXELLIS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, June 06, 2000 12:39 AM Subject: Re: [TXELLIS] First White Child In Ellis Co. > I do know that the Sevier, Sanford, and Weaver families were living between > Milford (Ellis) and Itasca (Hill) in the early 1840s, before statehood. > They all had children while settled there.
