For those on TXELLIS-L with interest in the Union Hill Cemetery near Bristol: Ellis County Historical Commission has scheduled a "Cemetery Clean-Up" on Saturday, June 10th from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon (weather permitting). If you have ancestors buried there you may be interested in coming to help. ECHC is working with the Ellis County Probation Office, about 50-60 Community Service workers will be there with mowers, hoes, rakes, chain-saws, bow-saws, and weed-eaters. So, wear your work shoes, long pants and long sleeved shirts (for protection from briars, etc), bring your tools and joins us. Don't forget the CHIGGER-RIDD!!! The results will be most rewarding to you. As we completed the clean-up for Bluff Springs Cemetery ...the Community Service workers commented, "today we feel we have really done something worthwhile" ....chilling comment isn't it? Another rewarding effort on your part would be if you, the descendants, could form a group or association to guarantee protection and upkeep of this hallowed ground where your ancestors are buried. [No minors or children can be present at this particular Clean-up] If you have questions or comments click on my email address below, I would love to hear from you. Thank You Sylvia Smith, Chairman Ellis County Historical Commission sylsmith@azmail.net
