But I know for a fact that they did not own slaves, did not believe in slavery, nor did they believe in secession, but they fought anyway, and died as a result of protecting their homes. The War divided families and friends. Why do we have to have ot fly the "Southern Cross"? If we are not doing it to offend people, why can't we just fly the Confederate Flag? The Confederate Flag honors those who died for her, more so than the "Soutern Cross". Even Robert E. Lee did not believe in slavery, nor secession, but believed it was his duty to stand up for his state-I believe that he saw his duty to defend States Rights. We still, every one of us, Black or White, hate to be told by the Federal Gov't what to do. We have given the Federal Gov't the right to tell us what to do in order to recieve Federal money and grants, yet we hate it. So why offend a people that believe the same as those of us who call ourselves White, who are indeed our blood brothers and sisters? Why not fly the Confederate Flag to honor those who lived and died to preserve that Confederacy? Giving in on this issue does not lessen us as a people-it joins us in brotherhood to all southerners. It is time to stop fighting and to work together to preserve our heritage, to take the sting out of being a southerner. God will bless our efforts to be one, but nothing can come of division between Black and White. It is not God's will that we do things to hurt others-just look at the Jewish laws in the Bible-He wanted us to respect each of his creations. And if we are truly believers in Christ, we cannot continue to offend those of His creation who call themselves "People of Color". This is not God's way, nor is it the way of Christ. The message is to love one another as Christ loved all of us, our neighbor as ourself. And I truly believe that those who follow this teaching will be blest by it. I am sorry if I offend those who want to hold on to the "Southern Cross", but I WILL NOT be alligned with the Nazi, the KKK, nor any of their off shoots. If we believe that Human Life is sacred, we cannot. Mona ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
