I would like to obtain copies of obituaries, ten or so, for people who lived in Midlothian. The Midlothian Library said that it did not keep copies or microfilm of the Midlothian paper. I'd be grateful for advice from old Ellis County hands about the best west to find Midlothian obituaries. Many thanks for your help, and best wishes to you. I think he must have died about 1863 or soon after. Does any one have a Cemetery Book for Ellis County that could do a lookup. He does on appear on any census after 1860 when he lived in Household of T. F. Brock.
Albert (Bert) ANDERSON was born in Ontario,Canada about 1879. There seems to be little record of his early years. By 1900, he had moved to Ennis and married Catherine (Katy) Marcia KENDALL. They are my maternal grandparents. I am particularly interested in tracing his family tree, but cannot find his parents' names. If you have any information about him or his parents (perhaps from his marriage certificate) or any suggestions on how to proceed, I would very much appreiciate hearing from you. Looking to verify Marriage of HAVREY WINCHESTER TO SUSAN HULL ON 12 JULY 1860. Supposed to be listed in Ellis Co., Marriage Book B, I am looking for a page number too.
Hi all, Goldie R. Watkins was born in Garrett, Ellis County, Texas, in December 1892. I know she lived there until after 1900. She probably went to school there. I wonder if anyone in Ellis County has any information on Goldie and/or her family. And, if possible, could someone look to see if there is a birth certificate or other record or information on her birth? Thank you Don Weaver, in Oklahoma [email protected]
I wonder if anyone who had easy access to marriage records of Ellis County, could check for 2 marriages for me? I am searching for a marriage of a Mary S. Rogers sometime between probably 1885-1900. She was born cir 1870, so she could have been of marriageable age by 1885. Also a marriage for a Robert D. (R.D.) Rogers to a Lula sometime in the 1890's. I did try to go through the Ellis Co. website for this look-up, but the volunteer's address didn't work, so I thought I would try the mailing list. Thank you. Judy Sanders
Very interesting, Shelley. I have Morgans in my genealogy and many lived in the areas you mention. My brother has a family album posted online. The album came from the DuBose-Morgan lines, but we do not have names for the people. Some have locations and photographers, but no personal information. You may want to look at his web site and see if any of the photos match the one you are talking about: http://www.io.com/~dubose/dubose/DUBOSE.HTM If you find similarities, I will certainly be interested. We would like to put names with faces if possible. Betty DuBose Hamilton Grand daughter of Maggie Cole Morgan and Charles Sidney DuBose. Ive rescued an old photograph of Julia Reese MORGAN which was taken at the Harper Studio. The studio lists locations in Corsicana, Waxahachie, Bryan, Navasota, Temple, Ennis, and Calvert, Texas so Im not certain which location the photograph was taken at. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880s with Julia noted as age 4 ½ months old at the time it was taken. I dont know if REESE is a middle name or maybe her maiden name with MORGAN being her married name. Im hoping that someone from her family can be located so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to the care of her family. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

Hi List. Would an obit for someone who died in Ennis in 1899 be in a local paper there, or perhaps a Waxahachie paper? There was an abbreviated obit, dateline from Ennis, in one of the Dallas newspapers. Perhaps a more detailed obit from Ellis Co might be available. Any help in where to search for this info would be greatly appreciated. Public thanks to the Ellis County Museum volunteer lookup person who was most helpful on another subject; and also to the poster of his Dallas obit online. Regards, Aileen in WA

Hello list, Is there or has there been a ranch in Ellis Co. with the above mentioned name? One of my ancestors was said to have worked there and possibly died while working on the ranch. His name was Wilbur C. Hendrix. Also his wife, Lillie Ann Alexander Hendrix was said to have written articles and poems for newspapers and magazines in the area to help support her young family. Any help would be appreciated Butch Cockerham
I am a new subscriber to the list. What information is available for deaths 1882 - 1883? How would I go about finding a will for someone who died during that time frame? Is there anything on-line or anyone on list who can do lookups? Linda -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. I am looking for descendants of Essie Lou Lemmon Monhundro who was a first cousin to my mother. Essie Lou's father, Joe Holbert [Hobb] Lemmon and my grandfather, William Lambert [Bill] Lemmon were brothers. Joe had two children, Essie Lou and Robert Allen Lemmon and I'd like to find someone who is related to them. It is my understanding that they may have both died by now. I know that I heard that Essie Lou had died on Aug. 18, 2003 but I'm not real sure about her brother, Robert Allen Lemmon. Any help with finding descendants of this family, would be much appreciated.
