    3. Maybe some of the grandchildren of those attending the party will enjoy reading this. I estimated the date based on the children born between 1919 -1922. Couldn't locate the Schlinder family in the Census.... Mrs. Ed R. Schlinder Gives Twin Children Birthday Party ? 1925? Mrs. Ed. R. Schlinder entertained Thursday afternoon in honor of her twin daughter and son, Katherine Geraldine and Edward Richmond Schindler, at her home, 203 West Waco Street. 1. Holland family Midlothian Texas
    2. Is anyone researching a Holland family in Midlothian? I have a completely unreliable source that says John Holland married Belle Franks (Franks is the family I am researching). There is a John Holland married to a "Belle" in Ellis County, Midlothian, Justice precinct 6 on the 1910 census. This is the same area where Belle and the rest of the Franks family were found in the 1900 census. If this is the same Holland family, there would possibly be a connection to the Meadors family, also of Ellis County.

    3. Alma Boy Home on Furlough After Completing Forty - Eight Missions Witness Sicily, Italy Invasion 1943 Overseas Eleven Months, Serving on Many Bombers Tech Sgt Hugh Collard of Alma who has been serving overseas, is spending a furlough with his mother, Mrs. George Collard [Sally Ruffin] of Alma. Sgt Collard, 32, graduated from Ennis High School in 1928 and worked as bookkeeper for the government before entering the service. He worked in Ennis a number of years ago for Mr. Glover when he was in business. He was inducted into the army Mar 15, 1942, and was sent to the reception center at Camp Walters, Texas. He received training at Sheppard Field, Wichita Falls, TX, Barksdale Field, LA, Tyndall, FL, Bear Field, IN, and Morris Field, FL. On Nov 18, 1942 he left for overseas duty. Sgt Collard was six days in making the trip in a bomber, but only sixty flying hours. Upon landing in Africa, he met Percy Fowler, a home town boy, the only person he met that he knew during his eleven months overseas. Sgt. Collard was turret gunner in the 17th Bomb Gre? and made forty eight missions over enemy territory. Forty of these missions were successful with only eight incomplete. In his squadron, a man making forty missions, was eligible for a furlough home, but because men were transferred for special raids, this squadron made the eight extra trips. He serves as a turret gunner with every pilot in his squadron and was on several different ships, one of the most famous ships, "Coughin' Coffin" on its fiftieth and last flight. This particular ship had a prayer written in it before it left the United State through all its missions, ... battles, the prayer remained clear and plain. Out of the fifty missions only one boy was slightly injured although at other times, forced landings were made. On on one return flight over Italy, the bomber had a forced landing in Sicily. The bomber was wrecked, but the crew was not injured. Sgt. Collard said that a beautiful sight was the convoy of ships, planes, landing crafts in the invasion of Sicily and Itlay. There were twenty men who returned to the US in October. The return trip was by boat, and the men stood guard and served as gunners. Sgt Collard has five brothers. The youngest, Edward, is serving with the armed forces in Australia. *Edward died Nov 13, 1943 Frank Collard lives in Italy, Texas and Clyde lives in Los Angeles, Ca. Two brothers, Hatton and Theodore, live in Alma. On Nov 24, Sgt Collard reports for duty at Miami Beach, FL

I remember her very old, large house on N. Dallas Street ( near where the Safeway Store was built). She was considered eccentric and sort of "scarey" to little kids, but this article shows how much she actually accomplished. I would love to read the story she wrote about her family, but have never seen a copy. Virginia

Mr. Grizzard states that his brother was 52 years old and was living at Alma, in this county. At this time it is not known whether Mr. Grizzard was in the Windsor or the Commercial house. Deceased had two sons, one in Hill county at Abbott, and the other at home.

    1. Second Wife of William Long/Mollie Feaster/early 1900s
    2. I have searched in vain for information on a Mrs. Mollie Feaster, who was the second wife of my great, great grandfather, William Ambrose Long, who lived in Ferris, Ellis County, Texas. Most of the information on Mollie Feaster was taken from the 1900 Federal Census of Ferris, Ellis County, Texas. She was listed as the wife of W. A. Long, she was born June 1848, in Tennessee, 51 years old, had two living children from a former marriage, her father was born in NC, and her mother was born in TN She obviously was a widow, because she was listed as "Mrs. Mollie Feaster" in the obituary of William Ambrose Long. William Ambrose Long died in 1903 in Ferris, Texas. Where did Mollie go? Anyone out there have any data or leads on this search? Dorothy O'Neill in MS
