    1. [TXELLIS] James Henry Jones and Fannie Jane Taylor Jones family
    2. Hello, I am looking to connect with someone from this couple's family. Fannie was a sister to my James R. Taylor I believe and would like to talk about this family. Anyone that can help me connect please contact me. My James R. Taylor settled in Red River County Texas and may have gone to west Texas at the very end of his life, not sure though. His wife Martha Elizabeth Clark Taylor died in Spur Texas. One of Jame's R. Taylor's daughters married my Great grandfather William Sargent in Franklin County, Alabama. 1. [TXELLIS] Rooker/Rucker with McColloch and Weiss
    2. I am asking any kin in Ellis Co especially Any Rooker , McColloch or Weiss; if they have any other info on Jenny Weiss. When did she come to town? What became of her youngest child Allice? Why did they move from Shawnee St? I think maybe Uncle Clair's children might know. Researching for the Rooker families who lived in Ellis County,TX ( mostly in Ennis) during the early 20th century. Names connected to the family in Ellis are also, McColloch, Weiss, Anderson, Stewart and Hawkins. Possibly Prewitt/Pruitt in late 19th century before the war of northern occupation. I'll start with the first generation of the Reverend Rooker's children, There are 9 for certain in census and my family says 10. Because my ancestor was supposedly son number 2. 1. [TXELLIS] Emily Milner Van Hook Middleton diary
    2. Vicki Betts
    3. I am trying to find the original copy of the Emily Milner Van Hook Middleton diary. Mrs. Middleton lived in Corsicana, then Ellis County, then back to Navarro County between the 1850s and the 1890s. There are typescripts at UT Arlington and Dallas Public Library. The Navarro County Historical Society has a photocopy in their files, and a note in the file stated that the original was owned by a family member, Mrs. M. C. Coy, of Ennis, Texas. Corsicana Public Library gave me the following information: Obituary: November 3, 1899 Middleton-Corsicana, TX Mrs. Emily Middleton, aged 94 years died at the residence of N. A. Brown on West Ninth Avenue and was buried this afternoon at 3 o'clock at Oakwood Cemetery. The deceased was one of the old landmarks of Navarro County. The book Old Northwest Texas, by Nancy Samuels and Barbara Knox, p 648-Says that she was probably the widow of Thomas Van Hook of Ellis County who married in 1871 to the Rev George J. Middleton. Thomas Van Hook was listed on the 1860 and 1870 census of Navarro County, Texas. Does anyone have any idea who Mrs. M. C. Coy might be? Is she still living? How may I contact her? Or does anyone know if she donated the original to a library or archives somewhere? Vicki Betts University of Texas at Tyler

    1. [TXELLIS] Cook, Lester, Briggs in Ellis county
    2. Edwards, Michael
    3. This may be a long shot, but it's worth a try... (and does require a little back-story) My maternal grandmother (Lillian Zora Lester Cook, # 3) was born in Ellis County in 1914. Her birth certificate shows Zora Lester Cook as her name, but she went by Lillian, so it was probably added later. Lillian is the daughter of William Cook (# 6) and Jennie Mae Lester (# 7). When Lillian was 4 years old, Jennie Mae died in childbirth. Lillian then went to go live with her grandparents, Henry Thomas Lester (# 14) and Maria Marion Rosson (# 15). By the 1930 census, the family had moved from Dallas County (1900 census) to Walnut Springs Road, Justice Precinct 2 in Ellis County. In the 1920 census, the Briggs family (which Lillian married into) was living on Trumbull & Judia Road in Justice Precinct 2 of Ellis County before moving to Precinct 4 of Hall County for the 1930 census. After Jennie Mae passed, Lillian's father did remarry. My mother only knows the name as Elvinia Shupeck (spelling???) and that they went on to have 12-13 additional kids. Which brings me to my questions.... I am looking for: Where in Ellis County are these Justice Precincts? Does anyone have any information on William Cook and Elvinia Shupeck and their descendants? Does anyone have any information on the Lester/Rosson families in Texas and their descendants? I have posted an edited version of my tree below in case anyone is interested or can help. Thank you Michael Edwards Generation No. 1 1. Beverly Ann Briggs, born 27 Jan 1944 in Huntsville, AL. She was the daughter of 2. Oather Richard Briggs and 3. Lillian Zora Cook.
