Hello Herman, I cannot help with the given names of the Edmondson's, but maybe this will help a bit. My husband's G-aunt, according to the 1900 Ellis Co census was married to Will Edmondson, she was Alice McCrory, both were 20 yrs old. She and her parents were born in MO and so were his parents born in MO, he was born in Texas. Next door to the couple were Harlen age 25 and Lyda (not sure of the spelling) age 23. Could have been brothers. Harlen was born MO, as were his parents. Hope this helps, Pat in San Antonio
Hi, I'm having trouble with this family. I have the marriage certificate and the death certificate on Eva Lyna MCKAY b. 1864 Ennis Ellis Co TX. She had a brother Charles. Neither her marriage certificate nor her death certificate have any information helpful in tracing her ancestors. Family oral history says her parents are Everett MCKAY and Jossie JOHNSON. They say Everett changed his name when he moved to TX because he killed a man. They also say Jossie is full blood Indian or part Indian. I haven't searched all the census records yet, but, so far no luck. Has anybody heard of this family? Does anyone have any suggestions. Charles grave is at Myrtle Cemetery but it does not have a stone. We have asked the funeral home to check there records. If we can find his death date and get his death certificate maybe it will have some information. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks, Helen
Searching for the Old IRVINE FARM CEMETERY near Garrett. As of now, no exact location has been found. Two markers recorded in 1957. Charles Thomas IRVINE 1825/1886 a Civil War Soldier from Georgia. and Marvin L. McIntosch d. 1890 son of S.J. & E.A. Does anyone have any idea where this small cemetery is located? Thanks for any assistance. We have found so many, but not this one. Susie

According to the "History of Ellis County" published by the Ellis County History Workshop Palmer was named for a Judge Palmer of Houston who was connected with the railroad. The Houston and Texas RR came though the county in 1872. Palmer owned stock in the company and made such an impressive speech, the town was named in his honor. How did the Palmer Community get its name? Anybody know Its history? - Sarah Lewis sashu-nane@juno.com Have a happy day! :-)
Hi Diaj, Thank you for your effort, but a couple of days ago I made contact with a family member, by email, and she said my McCrory was buried in an unmarked grave in the Bardwell Cemetery. Her father had given her tht information. Again, thanks for your help. Pat
Sorry I did not see these names. I do not have all the cemetery books but I did not find it in the ones I do have. S.
Pat, I checked the index for Waxahachie City, none of the McCrory's (either spelling). Also checked the Myrtle Cem. in Ennis and found none. But did find one McCrary. Do you want this looked up the next time I go to the FHC? Dian
Pat Palmer is about 30 miles S of Dallas just off I45. (Palmer is in Ellis County and is a small town.) I knew Mrs. Schwartz was a Barnett because she lived across the street from us in Palmer. And, there were Barnetts in Trumbull and Ferris areas. Palmer cemetery is visible from the Highway. If you have a chance, there is a ROADS OF TEXAS (a map book). It is excellent for finding small towns and communities. Its about $12 or $15. and is so helpful to genealogists. Mine is "dog-eared" I use it so much. It also designates locations of many cemeteries. Let me know if I can do other lookups. Susie
Hi, I didn't request all the Barnetts but where is Palmer Cemetery. I have a cousin John Barnett. I am a Barnett from Ellis County and have limited information on my grandparents prior to 1900. the follow is in response to previous inquires about John McCrory and I so my aunt's name in the information. My grandfather was James Barnett, 4/27/1869 to 11/24/1945 who came to Texas with 4 of his 5 sisters. He had a farm on Onion Creek in Byrd and is buried at the Elm Branch Cemetery in Bardwell, Ellis County. One of the sisters, Harriett Ulalah Barnett, 6/9/1876-12/1/1959, married John Adam McCrory in 6/1898. John Adam was born 3/5/1876 and died 1/12/1926. My father, Olen Lewis Barnett tells me John Adam is buried in an unmarked grave in the cemetery in Bardwell. Ulalah and John Adam had a son, John Claude McCrory borne 7/3/1914. He died 12/28/1990 and is buried in Sam Houston Cemetery in San Antonio. JC had live in Houston most of his adult life. The other 4 sisters were: Lovedia Barnett, 4/16/1871. Mary Barnett, 6/16/1879 Margaret Jane, 8/16/1882 Julia Barnett, 4/12/1893 who stayed in Alabama. Mae Barnett Pollan Gilbreath, 2/1905-6/10/1984, who is my aunt and the daughter of James Barnett is buried in the cemetery in Ferris and her maker has F.Mae Barnett Pollan. Her first husband was Charlie Barkley Pollan was the principal at the Ferris High School until his death in 1951. I am unable to verify whether my grandfather came from Alabama or Georgia or what brought him to Texas. I understand he didn't marry until the four sisters were married. I would like to exchange information with anyone who might have information on the family. Glenda Dillard 972-227-6923 bmd227@aol.com

Suzy, Thank you for checking. I did see the Barnett, but it was after I had written. I did not see anything promising. I have been told by family members John McCrory/McCreay was buried at Bartwell. I do not know if that meant a cemetery named Bartwell or in the city of Bartwell. I know of eight different ways to spell that name so any thing near would be suspect. A favor, my computer will be in the shop from Sat. to Tues. so would be hold your email until then. Again, thanks, Pat McCrory
Pat I listed all the Barnetts already, and I did not find any John McCrory/Creary in any of the books I had. Sorry. But, then I don't have all the cemetery books. Do you know where they might be buried? I dont have Ennis Myrtle Cem books or Waxahachie City books. S.
Archibald Greathouse (1804-1854) is my GGGGrandfather. He died in Ellis Co. Could anyone tell me where he is buried? Thank you, Vivian Hartsell Goodnight Grapevine, TX vivian@onewebplace.net

Susie, Thank you for the lookup, yes I would appreciate your listing the Barnetts that you have. This is my brick wall and all leads are greatly appreciated. With the 1890 Census destroyed, I'm running out of places to look for him.
