I believe the HINES listed is also a son-in-law and a daughter of James and Lucinda McNEELY. Since I had some kin in both Ellis and Smith Counties - I am hoping that there is a connection to some of the HINES researchers from Ellis Co, too! Sheryl McNeely Shaw SJMcS@aol.com

Carol, Do you know when your family arrived in Ellis County from Missouri. My Morgan line left Chariton County, Missouri which is next door to Carroll County and arrived in the Mountain Peak/Midlothian area by October 1853. Have always been curious if the three Missouri Morgan families traveled with other families from Missouri. Ann Turk

Thomas A. Laird moved to Ellis County in 1879 from Newton Co., GA, when he was about 21 years of age. He's listed in the 1880 Ellis County census as single, and married Frances Anne "Fannie" HARBISON Sept. 10, 1880, in Waxahachie. Thomas is listed as a brick mason at 509 West Jefferson Street in the 1895-96 Waxahachie City Directory, and is listed with his family in Precinct 3, Ennis, in the 1900 census. The family moved to Dallas sometime between 1900 and 1910. Thomas and Frances Anne are my great-grandparents. I have ample information about Thomas' ancestors, but I'm still looking for Frances Anne's parents. She was born in 1861 either in Arkansas or Missouri, depending on which census you're looking at. Thanks, Russell Laird
