    1. [TXELLIS] Prince's of Vernon, TX, > East TX history help needed...
    2. Found some information, but need proof of the following: 1. The Prince Bros. Drilling Company was the first one in the state of Texas? 2. Marguerite Prince Underwood owned at least 58 rent houses in Vernon. 3. The "Sunshine Lease," was the first oil boom in Vernon area or TX? 4. Either the Prince Bros. company, or some of the brothers owned numerous buildings in and around Vernon and Electra, including banks and movie theatres. 5. During the "Burke-Burnett Boom," Clarke Gable was working for the Prince Bros. on the well site as an oil hand. 6. At one time Prince Bros. Drilling and Gailey (sp?) Drilling Company, worked together to bring in wells at leases from TX to Colorado. 7. The Prince Bros. or one of the individual brothers loaned H. L. Hunt money and put him on a lease. 8. The Prince Bros. Drilling Company were running 48 wells at one time around Gladewater, TX. 9. They donated an oil company truck to a museum (Longview, Marshall area), is it still there? Someone at the museum painted another local company name on the doors, but that was supposed to have been removed. 10. Where is "NINE OAKS" farm, ranch, oil lease, whatever, located in Longview or Gladewater or Marshall area?????? Thanks, Marguerite Prince Songy

    3. I am seeking information on the George H. Cunningham family of Ellis County--particularly the youngest son: Barzilla/Barry/B.C. Cunningham born 18 March 1879 and died in 1916. He married in 1911 Berta Chapman (daughter of Phillip A. Chapman and Roxanna McFarlin). I am intersted in finding descendants. They had one child, Leta Mae who married Grover Howell Hight (two children, Roger and Roxanna). Thanks, Denice Lipscomb

    1. Re: [TXELLIS] LEWIS, PIERCE, CALVIN, WOODRING, NAL
    2. Kim Ross
    3. I'd missed him (because I wasn't looking for a CALVIN at the time). My Jim LEWIS is buried at Telico. (my father's line) The CALVINS are my mother's line. This Calvin is part of my bunch, just seeing his name. (Luther is used over and over) I think they were mostly near Italy or Nash. They intermarried with the Nalls & Woodrings. I'll check my records and get back to you. I've been to see a Calvin decendent in Waxahachie this week, she's around 90, and just had a heart attack. She'll be able to fill in some blanks when I get back with her. These families seem to have come from KY, returned to Hardin Co., KY, then came back to TX. On top of that, Beal Dorsey Calvin, jr. (Italy, TX) married in Dallas a woman from Johnson Co., MO. They're cousins. These people really got around. 2. Helen C. Chapman, Ph.D.
    3. There is a bit of information on this branch of the Chapman family in the "Ovilla Texas History Book," published by the Ovilla Historical Society. See pages 65-66. Phillip A. Chapman was the son of Newton Chapman (1818-1892) and Rebecca Jane Craig (1820-1862). Phillip and his wife had three sons, James A., Frederick, and Homer. I think the family of Frederick still live in Ardmore, OK, and possibly could give you more detailed information. I have the ancestry of Newton, if you need that. Helen Chapman hcc24@airmail.net

    2. I am not selling or advertising. But I want to let everyone know that ebay.com carries a lot of vintage school annuals. They have one from Italy,Texas an Corsicana. Both are pre-1950's.I find that they carry many things from Texas that people up north are auctioning.Hope this helps some of you from Ellis an surrounding counties. When you go to ebay.com click on books an then click on :"rare" then you will see School Annuals. If you want to do a search in annuals just enter Texas.I wish you all luck on finding the answers you are seeking. Sincerely, Toni Hamilton Ps.I do not sell on any auction.Just giving you so helpfull info.Mine only cost $7.00 an it was an orginal. > THANKYOU SO VERY MUCH...I APPRECIATE IT...MARY > > CVinc86858@aol.com wrote: > > > Mary, I do not find any Lacy. 3. I saved your message because of the name HULEN. I don't have any Hulen surnames that I am aware of, however, one of my Mother's Thompson cousins, from Ellis county, was named Hulen B. Although the Thompsons are not my direct line and I am not researching them, I do have a lateral interest in them. Could Hulen B's name have come from his Mother, Laura Thompson's, maiden name?
