Thanks to James D. VanDerMark we have added the 1860 and 1870 census to the page. Wondering why there were so little people in Eastland County in those years? There were only five farms in the county in 1870, all of them smaller than 20 acres in size and only 16 acres of improved land existed in the entire county. Most people wouldn't live in the County because of the Indian raids. About 1874 people started moving in and by the 1880 census there were 549 farms in the area and 4855 people living within the county.
